In an interview with Electric Playground, PlatinumGames co-founder and studio head Atsushi Inaba was asked about the projects that were the most enjoyable for him to work on. Inaba pointed to a pair of titles: MadWorld and The Wonderful 101. They were released on Wii and Wii U exclusively.

Regarding MadWorld, Inaba felt that PlatinumGames was able to create an enjoyable and deep experience despite its violence. As for The Wonderful 101, he has fond memories of developing the project with director Hideki Kamiya.

Inaba’s full response:

The Game Awards has certainly made a name for itself over the past few years. Millions upon millions of viewers tune in to the show for first looks at new titles and to see all of the trophies handed out. At this point, you could definitely say that it’s one of the industry’s most important events.

Out of everything that has happened at The Game Awards, one of the more monumental moments for creator and host Geoff Keighley was seeing Zelda producer Eiji Aonuma and Breath of the Wild director Hidemaro Fujibayashi come on stage to accept their Game of the Year prize. Keighley told Hollywood Reporter:

You could probably make the case that The Game Awards 2019 didn’t go the way that many had expected. There was no new Smash Bros. character, Zelda appearance, or return of Bayonetta 3. Instead, new trailers for Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3 (DLC) and No More Heroes 3 debuted alongside the announcement of Bravely Default II.

It’s that last game most people will be talking about. It’s technically not a Nintendo game as the Big N is only publishing in North America and Europe, but having the Bravely series return (and on Switch) is noteworthy.

Although we haven’t seen a whole lot of Bravely Default II, what are your thoughts so far? What do you hope to see in the new entry? What do you make of the name given Bravely Second on 3DS? Let us know in the comments below.

Bravely Default II

Square Enix unveiled Bravely Default II at The Game Awards 2019 a couple of days ago. Revo, who worked on music for the original game, is confirmed to be returning.

After this week’s announcement was made, Revo shared a message with fans. Read it below, courtesy of Siliconera.

A listing on the eShop has revealed a release date for Hypercharge Unboxed. The toy-based first-person shooter, which was previously highlighted in one of Nintendo’s indie presentations this past summer, launches January 31, 2020.

Here’s an overview of Hypercharge Unboxed, along with a trailer:

The Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel III

Engine Software has announced that it is the studio behind the Switch version of The Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel III. NIS America and Falcom announced the RPG for Nintendo’s console last week.

Engine Software previously ported a number of other titles to Switch. The company’s lineup includes Ni no Kuni, Little Nightmares, Into the Breach, and more.

The Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel III already has a confirmed release date of March 19, 2020 in Japan. It’s due out sometime during Spring 2020 in North America and Europe.
