Pokemon Sun & Moon were finally released in the UK and in Europe last Wednesday, and it looks like the delayed release compared to the rest of the world hasn’t hurt sales of the games at all.

In fact, according to Eurogamer, Pokemon Sun & Moon are Nintendo’s biggest ever launch in the United Kingdom – the two games combined sold more in one day than Wii Fit did in two weeks when it launched back in 2008. To put it into perspective, that’s more than 300,000 units.

This is even more impressive considering that the UK is usually one of Nintendo’s worst markets in the UK – it’s likely that Pokemon Sun & Moon sold even better in countries where Nintendo has a stronger presence, like France and Germany. Part of this sales success can definitely be attributed to Pokemon GO; sales of Pokemon X, Y and ORAS spiked during the summer when GO was released, and it’s likely that some of that carried over to Sun & Moon.

Since The Game Awards started, numerous platform holders have offered discounts that tie into the show. Nintendo was never a part of the promtion in the past, but that’s apparently changing this year.

The Game Awards creator and host Geoff Keighley mentioned in a live stream on Periscope today that the eShop will be seeing its own discounts “for the first time” – just like the PlayStation Network, Xbox Games Store, Steam, and Origin. We’ll find out which games are eligible in a few days, but the Nintendo-related winners and/or nominees will likely be included.

The Game Awards will be held this Thursday at 9 PM ET / 6 PM PT. That’s Friday at 2 AM in the UK / 3 AM in Europe.

Bandai Namco is set to unveil another new fighter in the arcade version of Pokken Tournament in just a few days. Today, the company has confirmed that a new roster addition will be announced on December 1 – this coming Thursday.

Scizor was added to Pokken Tournament arcade in October. Last month, Bandai Namco followed that up by bringing in Croagunk, which was somewhat unexpected. Since Darkrai was introduced during the summer, Empoleon is the only remaining character found in patch files for the Wii U version that has not been unveiled – so perhaps this Pokemon could be the new addition.

Bandai Namco has recently been showing new Pokken Tournament fighters during Niconico streams, but we haven’t heard anything about a broadcast thus far. Regardless, look for news later this week.
