Switch

Since Nintendo is being careful with Animal Crossing: New Horizons, the game won’t support traditional cloud saves through Nintendo Switch Online. However, we’ve heard that you’ll be able to recover save data if your Switch gets damaged or lost. There was a notice included in this week’s Nintendo Direct that this would only be possible to do one time, but things may not be finalized.

Just a short while ago, a new version of the Animal Crossing: New Horizons Direct was uploaded. In the segment regarding save data, a notice in the fine print previously said: “Nintendo Switch Online members can only have save data recovered one time due to loss or damage of system.” It now states: “More details on save data recovery functionality will be shared at a future date.”

It’s unclear what Nintendo’s future plans are at present. It’s still possible that save data recovery will be a one-time deal, but we’ll just have to wait and see.

Usually when a developer is asked if they’d like to see one of their characters or series appear in Super Smash Bros., they give an enthusiastic response. That was the case with Mortal Kombat co-creator Ed Boon, who was recently asked about the possibility of the fighting franchise being represented in Ultimate.

Boon said that he’s personally interested in the idea, noting that “it would be like a stamp of approval.” He added that he “would love to see something like that” and how it “would be a really cool thing to see.”

Sabotage Studio released its debut game The Messenger in 2018, which was met with great acclaim. The developer is now gearing up for the reveal of its next project.

In a teaser shared today, Sabotage Studio announced that it will unveil the new game on March 19. That lines up with the spring equinox.

Given that The Messenger started out as a console exclusive on Switch where it did quite well, it’s expected that whatever the new title turns out to be will land on Nintendo’s console as well.
