SEGA reveals Competition Mode for Sonic Mania

SEGA has announced a brand new mode for Sonic Mania. In the final game, players will be able to experience Competition Mode.
Sonic, Tails, and Knuckles are all playable here. Winners are determined by various factors, including clear time, score, number of items acquired, number of rings acquired when clearing the level, and total number of rings acquired throughout the level. Rules of each match can be adjusted by selecting items in the item boxes and number of rounds that take place.

Nintendo to stream Mario Odyssey, Samus Returns, Xenoblade Chronicles 2, and more at Gamescom

Nintendo has plenty of plans lined up for Gamescom later this month. Even if you’re not attending the expo, there will be plenty to see thanks to some extensive live streams.
First, Super Mario Odyssey will be appearing on August 23. Along with fresh gameplay, producer Yoshiaki Koizumi will be stopping by. The game will be streamed at the following times:
– 6 AM PT
– 9 AM ET
– 2 PM in the UK
– 3 PM in Europe

Switch / Wii U / 3DS maintenance taking place tonight / tomorrow

Nintendo has added in some last-minute maintenance for its platforms today. Switch, Wii U, and 3DS will be impacted for about five hours tonight / tomorrow.
The schedule is as follows:
– 9 PM PT (August 8) – 2 AM PT (August 9)
– 12 AM ET (August 9) – 5 AM ET (August 9)
– 5 AM in the UK (August 9) – 10 AM in the UK (August 9)
– 6 AM in Europe (August 9) – 11 AM in Europe (August 9)
Certain network services such as online play will be affected while maintenance is taking place.

Atelier Lydie & Soeur: Alchemists of the Mysterious Painting is coming to the Switch 7,300 yen this winter. Here is some information about the game as stated by Gematsu:
The game features two protagonists. Players will not choose between them, however:
– Liddy Marlen (voiced by Maria Naganawa) – Souer’s older sister. The quiet type.
– Souer Marlen (voiced by Hikari Akao) – The energetic type, opposite of her older sister.
