More Splatoon screenshots, information

The Japanese Splatoon Twitter account hasn’t stopped sending out new content over the past week. View a few new screenshots above, and some bits of information below.
Investigation report from the Squid Research Lab. This mysterious person (sorry, squid) guides the protagonist in Hero Mode. It seems that in the peaceful squid world he is the only man (sorry, squid) that has noticed the plans of the Octopus Corps. Anyway, he’s totally seeing our cameraman here.
We have confirmed the existence of various contraptions in Hero Mode. This cannon can shoot powerful ink bullets. Could it be something that the Octopus Corps set up, or was it someone else entirely? Be that as it may, it looks like a rather technologically advanced device.
Report from the Squid Research Lab. This guys name is “Denchinamazu” [Lit: Battery Catfish]. This world appears to run on the energy produced by this catfish. The protagonist enters the Octopus Army Corps base alone in order to return the stolen Denchinamazu.

Watch Dogs has a mandatory install
Posted on 10 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in News, Wii U | 3 Comments
It’s not too often that you hear about a Wii U game with a mandatory install, but that’s exactly the case with Watch Dogs. The game eats up about 128MB of space before you start the game and takes roughly 45-50 seconds to complete the process. You’ll see a notice on screen stating that data is being installed as it’s taking place.

That didn’t take long! The amiibo Loot Crates are already sold out, so hopefully you got an order in if you had any interest. When Nintendo said that the amiibo Loot Crates would be limited, they really meant it!

Sakurai again comments on clone characters in Smash Bros., roster approach
Posted on 10 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in 3DS, News, Wii U | 30 Comments
Super Smash Bros. director Masahiro Sakurai has once again commented on some of the clone characters in the new Wii U and 3DS games. He was asked to touch on the difference between clone characters like Marth and Lucina versus alternative costumes such as the Koopalings for Bowser Jr.
Below are his full comments on the matter:
“With regards to Bowser Jr., the Koopalings, Marth vs. Lucina, there are reasons for each. Lucina was the first to be split-off, this is because we made Marth’s moves more standard so he could be easy to handle by novice players.”
“However, any character which gained some uniqueness through their balancing needed to be separated so their results and statistics could be counted properly. It wouldn’t have been fair to have the results counted together even though their strengths differ between the variations. In the end, what was needed for each of these changes was to reduce the work required to balance the game.”
“Hence all these characters were adjusted relative to their clone. For example, Marth and Lucina would only be tested against each other, until they were roughly equal and in balance.”

Update: Confirmed – Smash Bros. Mewtwo DLC “may be available for purchase in the future”
Posted on 10 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in 3DS, News, Wii U | 21 Comments
Update: It looks like this is now pretty much confirmed. Based on what’s stated on the Japanese page and a new tweet from Nintendo of Europe (see below), you should be able to purchase Mewtwo at a later date.
Mewtwo will be available to purchase later in #SmashBros, for those who don't register both versions. http://t.co/D28gkMtlZb

Nintendo recently updated the North American Club Nintendo website with a page dedicated to Smash Bros. offers. Those who register the Wii U and 3DS games will be able to receive a soundtrack CD and free Mewtwo DLC.
We posted Club Nintendo’s Smash Bros. soundtrack/Mewtwo overview earlier today. You can find that here.
What we didn’t post is a small but important notice about the Mewtwo DLC. Nintendo states on Club Nintendo that the content “may be available for purchase in the future.” Hmm…
Another message from Xenoblade Chronicles X director Tetsuya Takahashi
Posted on 10 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in News, Wii U | 4 Comments
Tetsuya Takahashi has once again taken to the Xenoblade Chronicles X Twitter account and has shared another message about the game.
There’s not too much new here, though Takahashi reiterates that Monolith Soft’s RPG is nearing the end of development. He also mentions that the team managed “to overcome several obstacles as far as game development goes.”
Here’s Takahashi’s message in full:
“This is a continuation of our my previous talk. The development [of Xenoblade Chronicles X] did have its twists and turns, but we were able to finish up (just a little more until it’s complete) Xenoblade Chronicles X in the sci-fi world we aimed for from the beginning in a seamless open-world with online play, and I feel that we were able to overcome several obstacles as far as game development goes.”
“With the vast world that was shown when Iwata-san introduced the game in the Nintendo Direct the other day, it would bring me great pleasure to have you folks get to thoroughly explore it.”
