Miiverse

A small update has landed on the Wii U and PC versions of Miiverse. Going forward, the “Report Spoilers” function can be found within the “Report Violation” feature. To report a spoiler, users will need to select the “Report Violation” icon, and then choose “Spoiler” from the drop-down menu.

The official notice on Miiverse reads:

Bernd Fakesch, general manager of Nintendo of Germany, said in a recent interview that the new Super Smash Bros. games are lined up for spring 2014. Fakesch also referenced Mario Kart 8 as a title due out during the same timeframe.

He stated:

“For next spring two more big license games are also announced for our TV console with Mario Kart 8 and Super Smash Bros.”

I’ll be honest: I just don’t see this happening. A spring release simply seems too soon! But hey, I’ve been wrong before.

Along with today’s screenshot, Sakurai passed along the following message on Miiverse:

There weren’t a lot of people who used the Shield Breaker to break people’s shields, so we’ve now made it much more powerful. This pic is from immediately after a shield break.

“If it ain’t broke, make it dramatically better.”

To say that Nintendo has released too many platforming Mario games in the last two years would not be particularly hyperbolic if you concern yourself with only the raw numbers. 2011 saw the release of Super Mario 3D Land on 3DS, 2012 had New Super Mario Bros. 2 (3DS) and New Super Mario Bros. U (Wii U), and now 2013 has slid soundly to a spectacular finish with Super Mario 3D World. At first glance it may seem like an annualization of gaming’s finest platforming franchise, but it would be erroneous to criticize Nintendo’s strategy when they manage to make every one of these games at the very least first-rate in fundamental design, and it would be downright dishonest to suggest that we would be better off if they hadn’t created something as lustrous and enjoyable as Super Mario 3D World.

Nintendo is running a sale on its selection of refurbished Wii Remote Plus and nunchuck bundles.

You can purchase a white, black, or blue package from the company’s online store for $20. Each one typically costs $30.

Nintendo’s site doesn’t say when temporary reduced price ends.

Warner Bros. Interactive has narrowed down a more specific release date for The LEGO Movie Videogame. According to the publisher, it’s due out in February. A final date should be announced in the near future.
