Hackers are at it again. After digging through code in the new Smash Bros., fans have found unused custom moves that were toyed around with for the Wii U and 3DS games.

Based on the latest findings, it’s thought that the development team originally intended to give each character four custom moves. Every character’s fourth custom move are actually on the disc in some form. Check out the videos below for a look at the different moves.

We’ve translated another batch of details about Xenoblade Chronicles X from this week’s Famitsu. There are several points covered here, including the Frontier Network, Unions, and more. A number of you have also asked about off-TV play, and it now looks like that’s confirmed.

– You can add scars or beauty spots to faces in the character creator
– In New Los Angles, there are four main areas: blade area, industrial area, commercial area and residential area
– The main character joins BLADE and takes part in the group’s various activities
– In order to search for human pods scattered around Mira, you have to expand the information system called Frontier Network
– If you establish a Data Probe, the data of the surrounding area will be added to the system
– Data Probes can be established in spots called Frontier Network Spot
– A pillar of light helps locating a Frontier Network Spot
– Frontier Network info can be seen on the GamePad
– Map info includes player location, quest target area
– Can warp to already visited places
– Although the GamePad normally works as a terminal, the game can also be played on the GamePad screen
– The activities of BLADE are separated into 8 different divisions called Unions
– Available tasks differ depending on the Union you join
– The player can freely choose which Union to join
– The player can also enter a different Union after the initial decision

– Path Finder: Union for pioneers. Responsible for establishing Data Probes. Expands the Frontier Network.
– Interceptor: Responsible for suppressing native life forms. Guards research teams and rescues citizens.
– Avalanche: Interceptor protects while Avalance attacks. Suppresses dangerous creatures.
– Testament: Search and collects the wreckage of the White Whale. Also looks for things left behind in battlefields.
– Colepedian: Goes to various places of Mira to do research and collect materials.
– Land Bank: Searches Mira for stocking up resources in order to maintain the daily life. An important task is to gather minerals.
– Arms: Helps the “Arms company” to develop weapons like dolls.
– Companion: Helps the civilians of New Los Angles. Does almost anything as task vary from arbitrating quarrels to finding lost cats.

Nintendo president Satoru Iwata talked a bit more about the Wii U’s future as part of the company’s latest financial results that were distributed today.

Japanese website Sankei relays a message from Iwata, who stated that the “Wii U is not over yet. I want to continue to build on playing on people’s high expectations [for the system].”

While not at all surprising, Iwata also stated that there are multiple unannounced games for Wii U on the way. Some of these titles will almost certainly be revealed at E3 2015 in June.

Famitsu has a big update on Xenoblade Chronicles X this week. There’s a total of ten pages dedicated to the game, including an interview with director Tetsuya Takahashi.

The following information has leaked out of Famitsu thus far:

– Mira is 400km^2, which is 5 times the size of Xenoblade’s world
– Takahashi’s final check play time was over 300 hours
– “Union” Sound; something like factions for quests
– There are 8 of them, and you can join any of them, and change them depending on your goal
– PATH FINDER, COLEPEDIAN, INTER CEPTOR, LAND BANK, AVALANCE, ARMS, TESTAMENT, COMPANION
– Nagi (Takayuki Sugou): Former Captain of the White Whale and current Military Chief in the Autonomous Government of New Los Angeles
– Guin (Yuichi Nakamura): Worked in the same division as Elma and Irina on Earth; was their subordinate
– Many options for player avatar customization
– Kunihiko Tanaka did the preset avatar designs
– Some famous voices actors providing their voice as options for the avatar, will be announced on the Xenoblade homepage later
– GamePad shows character locations, quest locations
– Warp to previously visited areas on the GamePad
– The use of ‘X [Cross]’ has implications for the online functionality
– Not a standard online game, more ‘loosely connected’
– About 90 songs in the game
– Xenoblade had 1 vocal song at the end, but Xenoblade X has many vocal songs (many for an RPG)

Those who are attending Apex 2015 this year will be able to go hands-on with an upcoming Wii U game. Nintendo has confirmed that Splatoon will be playable at the expo, though the demo will be the same one from last year’s E3.


Apex 2015 will take place between January 30 and February 1 in New Jersey.
