LEGO Marvel Super Heroes has been shown off on consoles since its reveal, but don’t forget that handheld versions are also in development for the 3DS, DS, and PS Vita.

Thus far, Warner Bros. has yet to reveal any details or media for the portable release. The publisher has only said that they’ll offer “something different” – whatever that means.

We did at least recently come across one nugget pertaining to the handheld editions. According to GameFly listings, the 3DS, DS, and PS Vita games will be called “LEGO Marvel Super Heroes: Universe in Peril”.

This implies that the experience will be different on the portable systems, which is understandable. Maybe TT Games’ approach to LEGO Marvel will be comparable to the differences between LEGO City Undercover (a console game, being on Wii U) and LEGO City Undercover: The Chase Begins (a handheld game, being on 3DS).

Don’t expect big sales from The Wonderful 101 when the game launches in Japan in a few days.

According to Japanese retail blog Sinobo, Nintendo will ship a measly 30,000 copies of the game. For a new, exclusive, and Nintendo-published release, that’s pretty darn low.

You can definitely say that Nintendo is playing it safe with The Wonderful 101’s initial shipment. If nothing else, the game should see a high sell-through rate.

Plenty of Wii U titles have supported downloadable content. However, indies using the Nintendo Web Framework have been out of luck – until now.

A new version of the tech, announced at GDC Europe earlier today, will provide eCommerce support. This will allow developers to monetize additional items such as DLC.

In Japan, more copies of Conception II will be available for the PlayStation Vita and the 3DS. Publisher Spike Chunsoft will send out 60,000 units for Vita and another 30,000 units for 3DS.

As far as the split goes, Siliconera points out that there are more games on Sony’s handheld geared toward the “otaku” userbase as opposed to the 3DS, which Conception II fits into. The original Conception was also a PSP-only release. Spike Chunsoft could be banking on consumers upgrading to Vita and supporting the sequel.

Beatbuddy: Tale of the Guardians is in development for the Wii U, Threaks has confirmed. The “swimming platformer” just hit Steam a few weeks ago,.

Threaks’ Denis Rogic described the game to Nintendo Life as follows:

We have a music action-adventure. This means that we have a game that actually mimics the game mechanics with music and combines that, meaning that you have the actual action-adventure gameplay that you’d expect like puzzles, fighting and stuff like that, but at the same time, all those mechanics actually are music. By playing the game, you mix and remix the song and kind of interact with that music.

…We have rhythm elements, but they’re a really small portion of the game and they’re always interactive, so you expect a real freedom of movement, freedom of all kinds of things that you would expect from an adventure game, and then you have this additional layer of music in there. For example, there’s a game mechanic that’s a bass drum and the closer you get, the louder it gets and that means it’s a game mechanic. Just by moving through the level without any restrictions, you mix the song.

Expect Beatbuddy: Tale of the Guardians on the eShop sometime in the future.
