In a new Facebook post, eBay Germany points out a few reasons as to why consumers should consider purchasing a Wii U. It mentions: no used games blocking, no mandatory online, and no extra fuss.
The first two elements have been major points of contention when it comes to the Xbox One. Microsoft’s next-gen system will be implementing both items in one form or another, and haven’t sat well with the gaming community.
While not an explicit shot at Microsoft, the post does seem to be down on the Xbox One. Something tells me that Nintendo won’t mind…
Castlevania: Lords of Shadow – Mirror of Fate producer David Cox reflected on MercurySteam’s 3DS game in this month’s issue of GamesTM.
While speaking with the magazine, Cox said that the team is “very proud” of what was accomplished.
He said:
“We’re very proud of it. It is our contribution to the series’ handheld dynasty and has been incredibly well received. It was always intended as a tangential addition to the Lords of Shadow range, however. It is a game that will reward those that plays all three, but will not affect anyone who will just join the fun in Castlevania: Lords of Shadow 2.”
Mirror of Fate didn’t stack up quite as well as the original Lords of Shadow or the Castlevania DS entries, but it’s not a bad game by any means. It’s already been on sale a few times, so if you happen to see it at a discount and have any interest, you may want to consider picking it up.
Thanks to joclo for the tip.
Could Disney be up to something with Maniac Mansion? Lucasarts, under guidance of parent company Disney, registered four trademarks relating to the name on May 22. Each pertains to “video game software; computer programs and software”.
There hasn’t been much news on the Maniac Mansion front since the original title came out well over two decades ago. It’d be pretty neat to see a resurrection!
Nintendo’s new NERD division, founded from the basis of Mobiclip, will act as more of a technology investigator. Whereas the teams at Nintendo’s headquarters need to be focus on creating software, NERD plans to look into aspects such as GPGPU powered cloud computing.
NERD CTO Alexandre Delattre said during the most-recent Nintendo Direct:
“The developers at Nintendo headquarters need to spend their time developing the actual platform, so I think we’d like to explore areas that they don’t have time for. For example the possibilities which are opened up by the combination of cloud technologies and new software paradigms like general purpose GPU programming.”
One interesting point: NERD has been hiring researchers in the field of cloud technology, heterogenous computing, and GPGPU development.

KORG M01D is seeing a slight delay in Japan. Originally scheduled for launch this month, the title will now hit the 3DS eShop in June.
Detune did not provide any reasons for the release date change.
KORG M01D was originally scheduled to arrive on the overseas 3DS eShops this summer. Hopefully the Japanese delay won’t have any major affects on the game’s western release.
