Nintendo has filed a series of trademarks in Japan. Among them, GameCube and Game Boy have received new applications. They were filed on June 8, pertaining to video games.
We should caution that we don’t feel it’s worth making too much of these trademarks at the moment. In other words, we don’t feel it would be wise to automatically assume that a GameCube and/or Game Boy Classic will be announced soon. It could happen in the future, but Nintendo filed trademarks for other systems such as the 3DS, DS, and NES on the same day.
Other trademarks filed on June 8 in Japan include ones pertaining to Fitness Boxing, Sky Skipper, Xenoblade Chronicles 2: Torna – The Golden Country, and Fire Emblem: Three Houses.
