Nintendo is now selling Switch systems without a dock in Japan. As was announced earlier in the week, the company is looking to sell additional units to households that already have a system. The package has the main system, Joy-Con controllers, and Joy-Con wrist straps. It lacks the dock, Joy-Con grip, AC adapter, or HDMI cable.
If you were hoping that the same dockless option would be extended to other regions, you might be out of luck. Nintendo has said in a statement that the company has “no plans to release this configuration in the Americas.”
In Japan, the new Switch package is being sold for 24,980. The primary, original configuration costs 29,980 yen.

In 2014, Ubisoft mentioned that it had been sitting on a Wii U game for several months. It was completely finished, and was just a matter of when it would release.
Ultimately, Ubisoft chose not to publish the title. After it was clarified that the game was primarily aimed at “families and friends”, it was never officially announced. Footage did end up leaking a year later in February 2015 after it was outed as Know Your Friends.
DidYouKnowGaming? and Liam Robertson have now taken a closer look at Know Your Friends, which did not ship primarily due to slow Wii U sales. Watch the full report below.
At MCM London Comic Con this weekend, Nintendo live streamed a bit of Mario Tennis Aces. Check out the full recording below, containing around 10 minutes of footage.
Yesterday, Bandai Namco held a competition for Sword Art Online: Fatal Bullet in Japan. During the Q&A corner, series producer Yosuke Futami and Fatal Bullet producer Keishi Minami commented on the possibility of Switch support.
The two developers indicated that expanding the series to the Switch is being considered. Minami is a gamer above all, and would like a release on the console, so he is talking with Futami and others among his superiors at the moment. It may take some time, but he’s giving it some positive thought.
Next month, a couple of new Super Mario Odyssey plushies are releasing in Japan. Both have designs based on Mario and Peach’s wedding attire in the game.
