It’s unclear just how much Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze sold during its first week in the UK. However, we do know that it was towards the top of the charts.
GamesIndustry adds that the new Switch version “already accounts for nearly 17% of the total number of copies the game has sold in the UK (physical units only). Week one sales of the Switch version were 53.7% higher than week one sales of the Wii U version (although Switch does have a considerably higher install base).”
We should have an idea as to how Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze performed on Switch in Japan this week. As for the US, we’ll need to wait for next month’s NPD report.
Nintendo and HAL posted two new pieces of Kirby Star Allies art on Twitter today. The first image, attached above, highlights the character in his muscled form during the boss battle. We have some more standard art of Dedede below.
Part of the paid Nintendo Switch Online service is a selection of NES games with added online functionality. 20 of those will be available at launch, with more to be added later. Being able to play classic games (albeit not online) has previously been done on Nintendo systems with the Virtual Console service, with the difference that games had to be purchased individually. For a while now, it has seemed increasingly likely that a Virtual Console like on Wii, Wii U and Nintendo 3DS would not be coming to the Nintendo Switch – and this has now been confirmed.
Kotaku inquired about a possible Virtual Console on Switch, and received the following answer from a Nintendo spokesperson via e-mail:
The latest Jake Hunter game has been announced, and it’s coming to Nintendo Switch. The game’s full title is Jake Hunter Detective Story: Prism of Eyes. This is pretty much all we can glean from the preview images of this week’s Famitsu magazine, but we should have more info once we have access to the full issue later this week.

Nintendo has shared another look at a level in Splatoon 2’s Octo Expansion. This one requires you to defeat a certain number of enemies while standing on a platform made out of boxes which get destroyed when hit by ink – yours and your enemies’:
Preview images for the latest issue of Famitsu have revealed that Koei Tecmo’s Warriors Orochi 4 is coming to the Nintendo Switch. The latest version of the crossover game between Dynasty Warriors and Samurai Warriors will feature over 170 characters, the largest amount the series has ever seen. The game will be released sometime this year.
We should have more concrete details once we can get our hands on scans of the latest issue of Famitsu later this week.
