Nintendo has announced five characters for Arms so far. Players will be able to control Springman, Ribbon Girl, Master Mummy, Mechanica, or Ninjara.
During a stage show for Arms at the Nintendo Switch Experience 2017 in Japan last week, Kosuke Yabuki confirmed that there are more characters than are currently announced. It’s worth noting that Yabuki had been working on the Mario Kart series – with some other games sprinkled in – for ten years before becoming the producer of the Switch title.
There wasn’t a ton of other information shared at the event, but there were a few small tidbits. For example, some stages will have destructible objects. Also mentioned is that special attacks can be guarded, so you have to carefully use it. And the special gauge fills when you punch or get it.
Ultimately the big takeaway is that, yes, more characters are coming for Arms. It’ll be very interesting to see what the designs are like…
We have one more piece of Mario Kart 8 Deluxe news to share. Coming from Nintendo of Poland just like the art for Battle Mode, the game will feature support for the Inkling amiibo. You’ll be able to unlock a new racer outfit with the figure. Of course, outfits from Wii U are back as well.
Zelda: Breath of the Wild’s guide from Piggyback is now listed on Amazon UK. On the page, it reveals the amount of Shrines plus the amount for a couple of other elements. Since this may be considered a spoiler for some, head past the break for more details.
Fire Emblem Heroes was announced this week. It’s a big move for Nintendo, as it’s Fire Emblem’s first appearance on mobile as well as the company’s first attempt at the free-to-play market for smartphones.
According to the Fire Emblem Heroes website, the title will initially be coming to 39 countries. Nintendo does say though that more territories may be added.
The lineup is as follows:
Mario Kart 8 Deluxe appears to feature five different options in Battle Mode. Balloon Battle and Bob-omb Blast were previously confirmed by Nintendo directly. An image from Nintendo of Poland has since surfaced, showing what appears to be Coin Runners, Shine Thief (or Shine Runners, but unlikely if we’re getting Coin Runners), and something involving the Piranha Plant.
Mario Kart 8 Deluxe launches on April 28. Nintendo will certainly have more to say about the game before then.
Another round of footage is online for Shovel Knight: Specter of Torment on Switch. Check out gameplay from the Stranded Ship below.
Update: Now out of stock. Lasted quite awhile!
Original: The Zelda: Breath of the Wild Special Edition is sold out at almost all retailers, but Walmart now has pre-orders open. You can nab a copy here. We don’t expect it to last terribly long, but we’ll update this post when it sells out.
Some new screenshots from Zelda: Breath of the Wild on Switch popped up last night. Those came from Amazon Japan, which also has a few images from the Wii U version. Four of the screenshots on both Switch and Wii U are in the same exact location and poses, meaning we can compare the two.
Here’s a look at how Zelda: Breath of the Wild compares on Switch and Wii U (from left to right):
Poochy & Yoshi’s Woolly World isn’t far off. In the west, the game launches on February 3. And since the release is just on the horizon, Nintendo has made a pre-load option available on the North American 3DS eShop.
Those who pre-load Poochy & Yoshi’s Wolly World can download most of its data prior to launch. When the game officially arrives, just a small update will be needed to begin playing. 7,793 blocks (974.125 MB) of free space is required.
