Nintendo is beginning to crack down on those who are using pirated tools and software on their 3DS units. Reports indicate that certain system owners using Sky3DS and Gateway cards are being banned. Based on what we’re hearing, the bans may have started on February 4 following the release of firmware version 9.5.0-22.
Affected 3DS owners in various countries are experiencing error code 002-0102. This typically designates an Internet connectivity problem, but some have spoken to Nintendo’s customer support service and have learned that they’ve actually been banned. Nintendo isn’t offering additional information currently and are unable to overturn it.
Banned users are still able to enter the eShop and can purchase games as well as download updates. However, they’re restricted from going online within games and using the Friends List. Furthermore, applications requiring online connectivity – Pokemon Bank, YouTube, and Netflix, for instance – are inaccessible. The Internet browser is still functional.
Ace Combat Assault Horizon Legacy+ can be purchased either at retail or via the eShop. If you opt for the latter option, keep in mind that the game takes up 5,657 blocks of space on an SD card. The new update is another 80 blocks.
The Pinball Arcade is coming to the New 3DS, according to lead designer Bobby King. King told Family Gamer TV that the team now has “the processing power with the New 3DS to publish all the tables there”, and the goal is to launch it this year.
The Wii U version of Pinball Arcade – promised way back in 2012 – may also still be in the works, based on comments from King.
You can listen to what was said about The Pinball Arcade for New 3DS and Wii U in the video above.
Curve Digital has yet another game planned for Wii U. The Swindle, a steampunk heist game developed by Size Five Games, will be released on the console (and other platforms) later this year.
Here’s the official overview:
The Swindle is a mixture of platform, action and stealth gameplay. Players will be breaking into buildings, hacking their systems, stealing their cash and then charging to the nearest exit to the sound of alarms and breaking glass. The buildings and levels you’ll be exploring are all procedurally-generated, and players will be able to upgrade their thief with new skills and tools after every job allowing them to take on bigger buildings with more elaborate security.
The Swindle was first announced for PC back in 2011, and ended up being cancelled since Size Five Games owner Dan Marshall was unable to make the various elements hold together in a way he was pleased with. However, after fans expressed their disappointment, it was resurrected last October. This new version has been completely rebuilt and focuses on procedurally-generated thieves and levels.
