It’s almost that time again! We’ll be hosting another Discussing Everything today. Come join us at 4 PM ET / 1 PM PT to talk about Super Smash Bros. for Wii U and Pokemon Omega Ruby/Alpha Sapphire. There will probably be some news to discuss as well!
The big (only?) selling point of the DSi was the existence of DSiWare, a collection of downloadable games available for purchase. From cheap, simple titles like Pyoro and other re-released WarioWare games to larger titles that were a bit too niche for a retail release like Wayforward’s Mighty Flip Champs, there was a fair bit worth playing on the service, so I thought it was worth highlighting the best it has to offer – or at least the games you readers claimed to be the best. I personally have minimal experience with DSiWare, only discovering a handful of games through the 3DS eShop, which is why other editors, namely Austin, are giving me a hand in writing this up.
I had initially planned to do all these lists as a “top 10” since it’s the tenth anniversary of the Nintendo DS, but since the DSi has only been out for six years let’s streamline things a bit. Yes, that’s the reason that only six games are on it and not because there were only a few entries that completely dominated the poll.
Update: Max has now passed along the winners! Congratulations to amtom, Adrian Brown, and Granpapá Oso. We’ll be in touch shortly with your codes.
Another week, another giveaway! This time around, we have three Tetrobot & Co. codes to hand out (thanks Max Criden!). Unfortunately, this is for North American Wii U owners only.
For the Tetrobot & Co. giveaway, we’d like you to talk about your favorite unusual uses of technology in a game or your favorite puzzle games. We’ll give extra consideration to those who put a little effort into their submissions. It’s only fair, right? Feel free to link to screenshots, videos, or even soundtrack samples!
We’ll let the Tetrobot & Co. giveaway run through Thursday. Winners will be announced soon after.
Nintendo did not disclose any official numbers for Bayonetta 2 as part of the latest NPD results. However, an important piece of sales data appears to have leaked out.
NeoGAF member “Dartastic” claims that Bayonetta 2 sold 68,000 units in the U.S. during October. We’re generally wary of posting NPD leaks that don’t originate from creamsugar, who is considered to be a reliable source for sales figures. However, Dartastic’s post was apparently verified by a moderator of the NeoGAF community.
Bayonetta 2 launched on October 24. Since NPD’s reporting period ended on November 1, the game only saw about a week of sales.
Walmart will be selling the 3DS XL above on Black Friday. It will be available for only $149.99! New Super Mario Bros. 2 will come pre-installed.
Devil’s Third creator Tomonobu Itagaki shared an update about the Wii U game over on his Facebook page yesterday.
Itagaki noted that development is progressing well. The team just finished editing the closing movie recently.
Itagaki also hyped the scale of the story mode in Devil’s Third, which “is greater than that of Ninja Gaiden.” He also feels that the project “demolishes the standard of past console games in online multiplayer.”

TOO DX has released a first update for Sportsball – version 1.0.01. The patch makes a few changes and addresses several bugs.
Read on below for the full update notes.
Changes:
- Changed Sportsbrawl Pro rules to stock with bombs.
- Controllers inactive for 1 minute will no longer rumble until a button is hit again.
- Added a rumble on spawn
- Changed level background graphics
- Players must now hold the + button to pause matches
Bug Fixes:
- Fixed an issue where matches would restart twice in Sportsbrawl when a tackle happened by the winning team after victory.
- Fixed memory leaks on exiting the match scene.
- Fixed an issue where match number would not save to the replay data, displaying match # 0 on the results screen for all replays.
- Fixed an issue with replays where saved object references were not correctly loaded. This resulted in free lances on moving platforms not syncing movement.
- Fixed a soft lock issue when saving replays without enough space left in the common block. Now the replay will fail to save and an error message will be displayed.
- Fixed an issue where after playing a 60 minute match and watching the whole replay, loading another replay may cause a crash.
- Adjusted the timing of the intro animation to sync up the intro music
