Nintendo heading for best holiday in years as profits triple, Bloomberg says

In a new Bloomberg report, it’s stated that eight analysts have raised profit estimates or ratings for Nintendo since September. The two most recent ones have called for profits to triple to 36.8 billion yen.
Tomoaki Kawasaki, an analyst from Iwai Cosmo Securities Co., said:
“Nintendo has picked up good momentum heading into the Christmas season. This time they have a hit lineup. Amiibo represents a new revenue source, and we are watching it very closely.”
Ace Research analyst Hideki Yasuda also stated:
“Last year was just a bad year for the game business, and this year is a recovery. Add to that Amiibo, and you’re likely to see a considerable improvement in earnings.”
Bloomberg goes on to say that Nintendo expects to take in $1 billion from amiibo sales in the U.S. alone. This figure has come in to question and some believe that the outlet intended to refer to yen instead. In any case, things are looking up for Nintendo.
Rumor: Marth, Wii Fit Trainer, and Villager amiibo discontinued

Nintendo may have discontinued a trio of amiibo figures, if one retailer is to be believed.
Video Games Plus stated on Twitter earlier today that the Marth, Wii Fit Trainer, and Villager are “gone forever”. That’s based on information apparently coming from the retailer’s Nintendo distributor. Video Games Plus was told that all three “are officially discontinued”.
Here are the full tweets from Video Games Plus:

Defective Peach amiibo surfaces on ebay
Posted on 10 years ago by Kirara Koneko(@KiraraKoneko) in General Nintendo, Screenshots | 12 Comments
With the recent dual-wielding Samus selling for a whopping $2500, it was only a matter of time before we would come across more would surface.
A new challenger is approaching… Now we have seen a defective Peach amiibo join the ranks.
A seller on ebay has just posted what appears to be at this time a legitimate defective Peach who seems to have forgotten her legs.
Currently this listing is too new to see if it will rise to the heights of the recently sold Samus, with just a few bids currently listed I am sure we will see more and more people wanting to take advantage of this latest defect.
Check out the screenshots below and see what you think:
Video: Trying out amiibo figures on the Boston subway

The Samus amiibo had some interaction with the Moscow Metro gates, though it wouldn’t actually let you board the transit system for free. Here’s a look at whether some of the amiibo figures work with the Boston subway. The results probably shouldn’t shock you!

Defective Samus amiibo eBay auction ends with final total of $2,500
Posted on 10 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in General Nintendo, News | 14 Comments
The eBay auction for the defective Samus amiibo has finally come to an end.
We reported a few days ago that bids had topped $1,000. Since the auction’s end, which happened today, the final bid reached $2,500.
This Samus amiibo was a hot item for one reason in particular: the two dual canons. Samus only has once, which made the figure a defect.

Update: Doesn’t actually open – Samus amiibo manages to open Moscow Metro ticket gate
Posted on 10 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in 3DS, News, Wii U | 32 Comments
Update: The dream is dead! It’s true that the amiibo interacts with the gate’s locking mechanism and changes its light to green, but the gate itself will still close on when trying to pass through.
Eurogamer was provided with the following explanation from one of its readers:
“The confusion here is that the gates in Moscow metro seem to be opened all the time, but in fact they’re actually closed. You need to place your card on the reader to ‘unlock’ it and go past them. If you don’t, the gates quickly shuts right before you, possibly injuring your private parts. You can see that green light disappear really quickly – it’s supposed to stay green until you’re past the gates.”
amiibos aren’t just for games, guys. They hold some extra abilities as well. Take the Samus amiibo, for instance, which apparently opens the Moscow Metro ticket gate.
I’m playing around a bit here, but it does in fact look like the Samus amiibo worked in this situation. Reddit user “edkisin” posted the photo above and just posted the Vine clip below an hour or so ago to back up his claim. Looks pretty legitimate to me!
