Amazon expecting decent stock for Palutena amiibo, won’t sell out immediately
Posted on 9 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in General Nintendo, News | 7 Comments
A short while ago, Amazon announced that it will be the exclusive retailer to be offering the Palutena amiibo in both the U.S. and Canada. A representative for the site has since shared some additional information about what to expect.
The rep stated:
A few things to keep in mind, that we learned before wave 4:
1) We want to avoid resellers as much as possible, so she’ll be limited to 1 per customer.
2) We’re going to let everyone know when she’ll go on sale ahead of time.
3) That time will be during “normal business hours” (No 2:30am releases).
4) We learned from wave 4 that the time “windows” aren’t much different from just announcing a time, so I think that’s what we’ll be doing. Also, we have a lot more stock than we’ve had of any other amiibo yet. I know we’ll end up selling out, but I think it’ll be closer to the Splatoon 3-pack or Charizard or something rather than Lucina/Robin in terms of how long they’re available (~15 mins after available). If you show up on time, you should be able to get one.
The same rep added, “I know that there’s a lot of concern, but these are not going to disappear instantly like Lucina/Robin. I’m confident that if you show up when they go on sale, you should be able to get one.”
Amazon will be selling the Palutena amiibo on July 24. More specifics are due on July 22.
Update: Also Canada – Palutena amiibo is an Amazon exclusive in the U.S.

Update: Palutena is also exclusive in Canada. The official product page can be found here.
In spite of rumors to the contrary, the Palutena amiibo will be a retailer exclusive after all. The figure will only be made available through Amazon next week.
You can see the listing here. It won’t be going live until July 24, however.

Updated: Delayed to Tuesday – Amazon seems to be teasing an amiibo announcement for Monday
Posted on 9 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in General Nintendo, News | 20 Comments
Update (7/13): Amazon’s announcement was expected today, but it has been pushed back to tomorrow due to the passing of Nintendo president Satoru Iwata. The same representative from the retailer posted the following on Reddit about a half hour ago:
Hey everyone. I know how excited you are for what we have in store, but my team just had a discussion, and out of respect for Satoru Iwata, we’re going to be delaying our announcement by one day. Iwata was a visionary that had a near-immeasurable impact on the industry as a whole, and we didn’t want to simply ignore that and push forward without acknowledging. RIP Satoru Iwata.
Amazon is gearing up for some sort of amiibo announcement on Monday. Over on Reddit’s amiibo board, one of the retailer’s representatives made a topic titled: “No, Esteban! Not until Monday!”
Some of you might be wondering what the image above is about. Furthermore, you may be curious as to who Esteban is. This handy explanation should sort things out for you:
Esteban was an Amazon employee who gave this sub some info about when certain Amiibo would go live on the site. A cult following resulted in Amazon posting a picture of a rooster on Twitter. Allegedly, the rooster is Esteban.
So this picture, from AmazonJosh, likely implies that something big and Amiibo-related will occur on Monday, and the tie around his beak is to keep Esteban’s mouth shut so as not to spoil the surprise.
Basically, some sort of amiibo announcement is happening at the beginning of next week. Maybe a restock of figures? That’d certainly make sense given how amiibo have been reappearing at stores such as GameStop and Target.
