Game Freak on why Tembo the Badass Elephant isn’t planned for Wii U
Posted on 9 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in News, Wii U eShop | 75 Comments
SEGA and Game Freak announced its new collaboration title today: Tembo the Badass Elephant. The game is coming to the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC as a digital download, but not Wii U.
James Turner, director and character designer at Game Freak, was recently asked by Gamereactor about why Tembo isn’t coming to Nintendo’s console. Turner replied:
When I was writing the presentation documents for this game, I drew a mockup poster, and I put the Steam, PlayStation, and Xbox logos at the bottom. It seemed to fit, and it happened to stick that way. We thought about other hardware during development, but our hands were pretty full with those three platforms!
Turner was also asked about the possibility of bringing the game to other platforms in the future, such as 3DS. To this, he said: “Information on the potential for other platforms is classified. Right now our main mission is deployment on PC, PS4, and Xbox One.”
Update: Non-Nintendo game – Game Freak and SEGA collaboration in the works?

Update: (3/11/15) It’s not a mobile game as many had expected, but it isn’t for a Nintendo platform. The game is “Tembo The Badass Elephant” – read about it here.
The postcard above, coming from Game Freak and SEGA, was sent out to certain folks today. It seems to be teasing a potential collaboration between the two companies. I have no idea what this is about – and there’s a possibility that this has nothing to do with Nintendo – but I figured this was worth sharing!

Stella Glow producer on the game’s delay, new characters revealed

Stella Glow finally has resurfaced after originally being announced last October. This week’s issue of Famitsu has a follow up report on the game, and the magazine spoke with producer Hideyuki Mizutani about the delay.
According to Mizutani, development was nearly finished in October, and the project was all wrapped up in November. However, sales-related issues pushed the title from its original winter launch target. Imageepoch ended up partnering with SEGA to handle Stella Glow’s publishing. As you may recall, the two companies worked together on 7th Dragon.
That’s not all on Stella Glow. Famitsu also provides a first look at the following characters:
The Eastern Witch and Song Maiden, Sakuya (voiced by Yui Sakakibara)
That Ninja Guard, Nonoka (voiced by Sayuri Yahagi)
The Merchant, Yuan (voiced by Mana Hirata)
Hilda’s Lackey Enemy Witch, Droshi (voiced by Atsumi Tanezaki)

Takashi Iizuka says he has no plans to stop making Sonic games for consoles
Posted on 9 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in General Nintendo, News | 19 Comments
There’s been a lot of talk over the past few weeks about SEGA’s shift in development. The company now intends to focus on PC and mobile as opposed to traditional gaming systems. However, that doesn’t mean SEGA is stopping console development entirely – especially when it comes to Sonic.
Japanese outlet 4Gamer recently interviewed Takashi Iizuka, head of Sonic Team. In one question, 4Gamer asks if SEGA is transitioning Sonic into a smartphone franchise.
Iizuka confirms that this isn’t the case. With the recently released Sonic Runners, SEGA simply felt that mobile was the most suitable platform for the game. Iizuka added, “Personally, I don’t plan to stop Sonic for home-video game consoles.”
So there you have it! We should eventually hear about another Sonic game for consoles. Let’s just hope it isn’t as disappointing as Sonic Boom.
Thanks to Mii for the tip.
