SEGA tends to have a big presence at SXSW when it comes to Sonic. During a panel at the event in March, the company announced Sonic Mania Plus, a new Sonic Mania Adventures animated series, and more. Also at the very end, fans were treated to a teaser of what we pretty much know is some sort of Sonic racing game.

SEGA has been keeping quiet on that mystery project since that initial teaser. But during an official live stream this week, fans were given an indication that news is coming soon.

SEGA Ages

In a recent issue of Famitsu, one of the first SEGA Ages interviews was published. The magazine caught up with the following team members:

– SEGA Games’ lead producer and director Rieko Kodama
– Supervisor Yosuke Okunari
– Senior producer Kagasei Shimomura
– M2’s Naoki Horii

Sonic Mania Plus

SEGA issued a new batch of screenshots for Sonic Mania Plus. Get a look at the latest images in the gallery below.

Sonic Mania Plus is slated for July 17.

Sonic the Hedgehog

CNBC recently caught up with Haruki Satomi, the president and CEO of SEGA. There was some interesting discussion between the two sides about trying to make a turnaround with Sonic the Hedgehog after disappointing fans in the past, and wanting to focus on quality. Satomi was also asked if he believes Sonic can beat Mario – which he thinks is possible – but also pointed out how they’ve teamed up in the past for the Olympics titles.

Below are a few notable excerpts from the interview with CNBC:

SEGA has just released the second part of its new Sonic Mania animated web series. View the latest episode for Sonic Mania Adventures below, and stay tuned for the rest of the videos.

Sonic Mania Plus

SEGA delivered plenty of Sonic Mania Plus news this week. The big announcement is the release date of July 17, and the first official trailer was shared online.

Japanese magazine Famitsu also had its own coverage of Sonic Mania Plus this week. In a two-page feature, an interview was published with Sonic Team boss Takashi Iizuka. Iizuka was asked about how Sonic Mania Plus came to be, including Ray and Mighty, and more.

You can read the full interview with Iizuka below.

Update: SEGA also released the Switch version’s opening movie on Youtube, giving us an even better look at the game. Check it out:

Original: SEGA announced the Japanese release date of Shining Resonance Refrain today – July 12th, which is actually two days after the game’s worldwide release. The press release SEGA announced this with also contained the first three screenshots of the Switch version of the game.
