Summer Game Fest 2021

E3 is back after a year off, but Summer Game Fest – which was started last year by The Game Awards creator Geoff Keighley – will be returning regardless. Fresh information about the event was shared today.

Summer Game Fest officially begins on June 10 at 11 AM PT / 2 PM ET / 7 PM in the UK / 8 PM in Europe. The initial broadcast will feature “a spectacular live world premiere showcase, with a performance by Weezer, Day of the Devs and more”.

Partners for Summer Game Fest 2021 include:

Super Bomberman R Online

The recently-announced Switch version of Super Bomberman R Online is just a few days away. It will be launching as a free-to-play game on May 27, Konami has confirmed.

Outside of today’s release date news, Konami also provided information about new in-game seasons, its two-tier “Battle Pass” system, and outfit bonus. We have the full rundown below.

Nintendo just announced the latest classic additions to Switch Online. Unsurprisingly, the lineups in the west and Japan are different.

Caveman Ninja, Magical Drop 2, and Ninja JaJaMaru-kun are the same in all regions. However, Japan will be receiving Fire Emblem: Genealogy of the Holy War and Doomsday Warrior whereas the west is getting Super Baseball Simulator 1.000 and Spanky’s Quest.

Here’s a trailer:

Nintendo has announced a brand new amiibo tying in with the upcoming release of The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword. Fans will be able to pick up a figure featuring Zelda herself and a Loftwing.

Naturally, the amiibo has functionality with Skyward Sword HD. When used on the surface, you can return to the sky from wherever you like. Use it again in the sky to return to where you were previously. It even works in dungeons or buildings in the sky.

Here’s a video showing off the amiibo feature:

Nintendo just announced that a new batch of classic games will be offered through Nintendo Switch Online. SNES will be receiving four titles while NES will have a single release.

The Falconeer: Warrior Edition

Wired Productions and Tomas Sala are bringing The Falconeer: Warrior Edition to Switch, according to an eShop listing. It will launch on August 5.

The Falconeer first appeared on Xbox platforms and PC last year. For the Warrior Edition on Switch, it will include “the fully updated game” as well as The Hunter and Edge of the World DLC.

Here’s some additional information from the eShop listing:

Shin Megami Tensei III: Nocturne HD Remaster

System: Switch
Release date: May 25, 2021
Developer: Atlus
Publisher: Atlus

Shin Megami Tensei III: Nocturne HD Remaster is an exhausting game. I don’t just mean exhausting in that it has a long name that I’m already tired of typing out, but rather, exhausting as an experience overall. Its world is bleak, barren and void of any semblance of hope for its inhabitants. Its gameplay, consisting almost entirely of archaic turn-based combat, can be unforgiving and occasionally opaque. And while the game has been given a small facelift for this 2021 rerelease, it largely embraces its PlayStation 2 origins and does little to modernize itself today’s audiences. Depending on what type of player you are, this may be enough to turn you off from the game entirely, but those who enjoy patiently unpacking a cryptic, challenging experience will likely find themselves deeply absorbed in Shin Megami Tensei III.

Mario Golf: Super Rush

Today’s Mario Golf: Super Rush trailer showed off different gameplay, modes, and more. As part of that, we now have the game’s full roster.

Mario Golf: Super Rush will feature a total of sixteen characters. You’ve got traditional participants like Mario and Luigi, but others such as Pauline and King Bob-omb – the latter of which is included in the roster for a console Mario game for the first time.

Here’s the full lineup:

Mario Golf: Super Rush

Nintendo just released a brand new overview trailer for Mario Golf: Super Rush ahead of its release next month. Have a look at the video below.

Mario Golf: Super Rush launches for Switch on June 25.

Pokemon logo

Pokemon is no stranger to presentations in June. Over the past few years, we’ve seen Pokemon Presents broadcasts as well as Pokemon Directs. Rumor has it that we’ll be seeing something similar next month once again.

According to Twitter user Kelios, plans are in the works to air a new Pokemon Presents in early June. Fans can apparently expect news on Pokemon Unite as well as the release date for Pokemon Brilliant Diamond/Shining Pearl.

Kelios accurately predicted a new Pokemon presentation for Pokemon Day back in February and spread the news regarding Pokemon Legends: Arceus just before the official reveal. He was also aware of a Nintendo broadcast last July, which would turn out to be a Nintendo Direct Mini: Partner Showcase.
