Beyond Good & Evil 2 was first made known nearly a decade ago. Yet despite that, we’ve heard next to nothing about the project since then.

Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot did offer up some words of encouragement during the official YouTube E3 stream. He told host Geoff Keighley that Beyond Good & Evil 2 is “still on the way”, and that it’s something we’ll see at some point.

Guillemot added that creator Michel Ancel is working on it, but he’s currently handling two games – the other being Wild. It’s coming along, but Ancel needs to spend more time on the project.

Destructoid shared a rumor earlier in the year claiming that Nintendo is funding Beyond Good & Evil 2 as an NX exclusive. Whether or not that’s true remains to be seen.

Just Dance 2017 is in development and is coming to all Nintendo consoles, Ubisoft announced today.

The general release is slated for October, which includes Wii U and Wii. Somewhat surprisingly, Ubisoft has already confirmed plans to bring Just Dance 2017 to NX next year.

New to this year’s entry is Just Dance Machine, “a frantic new mode that challenges you to perform different kinds of dances (including flamenco, ballet, and the cancan) to help your alien captors return home.” 40 new tracks by diverse acts including Sia, Major Lazer, Hatsune Miku, and Queen will also be featured.

Confirmed tracks thus far include:

“Sorry” – Justin Bieber
“DADDY” – Psy Ft. CL of 2NE1
“Cheap Thrills” – Sia Ft. Sean Paul
“Lean On” – Major Lazer Ft. MØ & DJ Snake
“Worth It” – Fifth Harmony Ft. Kid Ink
“Don’t Stop Me Now” – Queen
“PoPiPo” – Hatsune Miku
“Radical” – Dyro & Dannic
“El Tiki” – Maluma
“September” – Equinox Stars
“What Is Love” – Ultraclub 90

Returning features include:

– Just Dance Unlimited, the dance-on-demand service that features more than 200 tracks
– Sweat + Playlists, the fitness mode that lets you create your own playlists and track your activity
– The worldwide Dance Quest challenge mode
– The improved Just Dance Controller app, which lets up to six players join in by using their smartphones as motion sensors, with no camera required

Destructoid is reporting that Nintendo is funding Beyond Good & Evil 2. Better yet, the site claims that the game is planned as an NX exclusive for 2017. It would be a move similar to that of Bayonetta 2 on Wii U, which could help Nintendo generate goodwill with gamers by helping bring the much-desired sequel to its new platform as an exclusive.

Destructoid’s initial source originates from Alexander Maier, who recently posted a series of rumors about NX which I personally found rather dubious. However, the outlet “also reached out to a second source, who independently gave a number of the same bullet points regarding the future of Beyond Good and Evil. The number of points of crossover between these two sources suggests that this rumor, while not confirmed by Nintendo, may hold water.”

The new game may be currently carrying the working title “Beyond Good and Evil: The Prejudices of Philosophers”. This is said to be “a reference to a specific chapter in the philosophical text Beyond Good and Evil by Friedrich Nietzsche, which details how morality can be altered by authority, and the ways black-and-white morality overlooks the larger complexity of the nature of morals.”

As with all rumors, we can’t stress enough that this report should be taken with a grain of salt. If it were to be accurate though, it’d be a very interesting move on Nintendo’s part.

Maxime Beaudoin worked at Ubisoft for several years as a technical architect. Last year, he left the company and founded his own studio. Beaudoin thought it would make sense to look back at his time at Ubisoft in a personal blog post.

One interesting part of the piece has Beaudoin speaking about porting Assassin’s Creed III to Wii U. It was no easy task due to the technical challenges involved, but in the end, the team managed to get it done.

Beaudoin wrote:

After PoP, I contributed on several games here and there, and eventually landed on a technically very challenging project: porting Assassin’s Creed 3 on the WiiU. This was very different from my previous work. The team was super small: we were 2 programmers at the beginning, and at the peak I think we were like 15 or something.

Buzz Monkey Software, in partnership with Ubisoft, was once working on an open world South Park title for the GameCube, PlayStation 2, and Xbox. Development began in late 2004 and carried on for less a year before its eventual cancellation. All of the relevant details about what this South Park title would have offered are in the video below.
