The latest issue of Famitsu has shared a listing of the top 30 best-selling games in Japan for the month of August 2017. You can check out the full results below.

A Kickstarter campaign for Claws of Furry just wrapped up yesterday. The action game, in which you go on a mission to save your abducted Ninja Master and fight enemies in beat’em up fashion, even had a Switch stretch goal. Unfortunately though, developer Terahard fell well short of its £10,000 target.

The one bright spot is that Terahard intends to develop Claws of Fury for Switch despite the fact that the Kickstarter didn’t achieve successful funding. A release in January is currently planned.

As for the game itself, here’s an overview:

Claws of Furry creates a blend of today’s fast pace action with classic arcade Beat’em up badassery. With a leveling system of over 40 skills and multiple modes, from Rogue-like to Arena, it’s up to the players how they build their Ninja Cat and what adventure they will follow. Fear not the rogue-like though; the character progress is not lost, since the skills that are unlocked transfer to each new character, making the player’s cat stronger in every playthrough. Still you don’t like rogue-like? We got you covered, with the Pussycat mode you can play the game with checkpoints in every level, in a classic linear adventure. This will not make it much easier though, fast reflexes and a keen eye are required in order to survive the journey to free your Master. You don’t have to take this journey alone though; you can have a group of up to four people in local co-op!

And a trailer:

We’ve seen footage of Doom running on Switch, but only with off-screen videos. Fortunately, some screenshots have appeared giving us a clear look in direct-feed. Take a look at the images below.

It’s the end of an era for Nintendo, as the Wii Shop Channel is announced to be closing in 2019. This was the first notable store built in to a Nintendo console.

Much has been made about Switch icons over the past few months – particularly the way they look. Some system owners have been very vocal about the icons they feel just don’t look good. Snake Pass, LEGO Worlds, and SteamWorld Dig 2 are among the games players have requested to be changed.

I almost feel as though I’ve been living in an alternate reality watching this all unfold. Rather than focusing on what a quality game like SteamWorld Dig 2 is, some are instead fixated on that home menu icon. Personally, as long as I know which icon a game represents and the text is there, the actual design doesn’t matter much to me at all. But hey, I could be completely out of touch.

So let’s have a discussion about this. How important are Switch icons to you? I’m very curious as to how everyone feels about the topic since we haven’t covered it before, so share your thoughts with us below.

Pokken Tournament DX sold a little over 50,000 copies in its first week in Japan. It didn’t light the sales charts on fire, but it wasn’t a flop, and it was also one of the best-selling games of the week.

Media Create further adds that Pokken Tournament DX sold through 41.39 percent of its initial shipment, which may seem on the low side. However, the game sold about 75 percent of the Wii U version. For that release, the original Pokken Tournament sold 70,000 copies in its first week with a sell-through rate of 36.65 percent.

Media Create points out that both Pokken Tournament DX and the original title have low sell-through rates in their first week. But since the Wii U version went on to sell 179,000 copies, the sales tracker believes DX could continue to sell over time, especially during the holiday season.

Golf Story came out this week in the midst of much buzz. Despite being available for just a few days, it’s already climbed to the top of the eShop charts. The reception has definitely gone over well, but Golf Story does have some issues. Players have come across bugs and other small problems that do need to be addressed – you can see an extensive list here.

Fortunately, Sidebar Games intends to patch the game. The developer has been made aware of all the various issues and should be addressing them over time. No word yet on when the first update is going live, but we’ll let you know when there’s any news.
