“In Zelda: Breath of the Wild, how did you get the idea to make the nature the focus of the game?”

Nintendo of France has started to put out a series of videos with Eiji Aonuma about Breath of the Wild. Fans were able to submit questions to the Zelda producer, the first of which asks why nature is the focus of the game.

Aonuma’s response was as follows:

“The Zelda series has always told the evolution of Link in his world. At the start of the game, he’s not very strong, but little by little, he will gain power. The reason why the games takes place in very natural environments is that it seemed to suit those kinds of stories, and this time, nature has taken a bigger role. It’s an execution choice, as you are free of your movements and you will travel a lot. We had to make a gigantic world with great plains, to give players a feel of total immersion, and that’s why we worked a lot on the animation, ambient sounds, and nature sounds, to get a better feel of the different environments.”

We should be seeing more answers from Aonuma over the next few days.

The long-awaited update to Pokemon Bank (and Poke Transporter) arrived last night. Once it’s been updated, it’ll be fully compatible with Pokemon Sun/Moon.

Here’s something interesting about Pokemon Bank. If you bring over a Solrock to Pokemon Sun or Lunatone to Pokemon Moon, you can interact with a certain character in the Haina Desert. Fans had dug up the event previously, but this is the first time that it can be encountered under normal circumstances.

These are the steps needed to activate the scene:

Transfer Solrock to Pokemon Sun or Lunatone to Pokemon Moon.

Put Solrock/Lunatone in your party.

Fly to Ruins of Abundance on Ula’ula Island.

Head south to enter Haina Desert.

Head to the western exit, then immediately back east (where you came from).

Head to the southern exit.

Keep heading south until you see the old man with a red shirt.

Speak to him for an interesting cutscene!

Head past the break for a video of the event in question.

Nintendo continues to provide fans with looks at The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. On Facebook, the company shared a new screenshot that shows off one of the game’s villages. We have it above.

This week’s North American Wii U Virtual Console game appears to be Flying Warriors. It just appeared on Nintendo’s website, yet strangely, it’s listing a release date of January 20. We assume this was simply an error, and was intended to be January 25 instead.

In any case, here’s an overview of Flying Warriors:

“When the evil red star appears in the sky, the great monster of the Dark Dimension, Demonyx, returns. The five Flying Warriors, led by Rick Stalker, are sent by the Dragon Lord to defeat Demonyx. Fight through four game modes. Choose one of two different fighting styles. One for beginners, and one for those who can master the martial arts. Use items and Mystic Spells in your quest to rescue the Light Dimension from darkness.”

Flying Warriors will set you back $4.99.

Nintendo will be joining the lineup of sponsors for the 2017 Kids’ Choice Awards. It’s unclear what exactly that role entails, but the show does at least have backing from the big N.

You may have forgotten, but there was a neat little Nintendo segment at the Kids’ Choice Awards last year. Mario and Luigi showed up to present once of the winners, and a live-action Mario sequence was created.
