Western fans primarily requested off-TV play for Xenoblade Chronicles X
Posted on 9 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in News, Wii U | 17 Comments
Monolith Soft shared a bit more about off-TV play in Xenoblade Chronicles X in a series of posts shared on Twitter today.
Off-TV play came about, at least partially, because of requests from overseas fans. Director Koh Kojima was initially uncertain whether or not off-TV play would work as intended due to the sheer amount of information displayed on the screen during battles. Thankfully, things turned out okay, so the feature was implemented.
A couple of short Rusty Pup clips, a few pieces of art

There hasn’t been much to say about The Unlikely Legend of Rusty Pup in recent months. You could essentially say that the game went into hiding, and updates ceased for quite awhile.
But just last week, new updates landed on developer Gory Detail’s official Tumblr page. We now have a look at two brief clips, plus some art. In one drawing, it’s shown that Rusty’s original name was “Toc”.
You can keep track of future Tumblr updates here.

Dolphin emulator allows GameCube games to run at 60fps, including Super Mario Sunshine
Posted on 9 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in GameCube, General Nintendo, Videos | 15 Comments
Super Mario Sunshine and Pikmin 2 did not run at 60 frames per second back in the day. Thanks to the Dolphin emulator though, this is now possible.
There are some issues – pertaining to audio in particular, which there is a workaround for. The results thus far are certainly impressive.
We’ll also mention that there’s a 120fps hack floating around, but Dolphin Emulation forum member Knuckles500 warns: “There is also a 120fps hack for those with higher frame-rate monitors, but it does begin to break stuff at that point…”

Itagaki believes Fatal Frame: The Black Haired Shrine Maiden will be released outside of Japan
Posted on 9 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in News, Wii U | 29 Comments
Tomonobu Itagaki didn’t have anything to do with Fatal Frame: The Black Haired Shrine Maiden. However, he seems to think that the Wii U game will be released “in many countries.”
Itagaki wrote on Facebook recently:
“Hey guys, I strongly believe that Kikuchi Keisuke (producer) will release the Fatal Frame V in America, in many countries. He and me have same philosophy from Tecmo days. That’s what I can say for now. I want you guys to read between the lines.
Anyway I will play this game :)”.
Don’t take this as any sort of confirmation that the new Fatal Frame is coming to North America and Europe. Still, Itagaki’s words are interesting. You have to wonder why he feels so “strongly” that it will come outside of Japan.
