General Nintendo

Earlier this year, we got a look at many scrapped Pokemon designs after a 1997 Pokemon Gold demo leaked online. Several months later, we have even more designs that were never used.

Japanese TV channel NHK recently aired a program that showed off a number of Pokemon, including ones that have never appeared in-game. We can see the likes of Lapras and Blastoise, a very-different Scyther, and even the original concept for Gengar and Rhyhorn that fight in the opening credits of Pokemon Red, Blue and Yellow.

Nintendo eShop

Dating back to this past February, the Norwegian Consumer Council has been taking issue with Nintendo over its eShop pre-order policy. Nintendo doesn’t allow for cancellations or refunds of titles that have been pre-loaded, which is the main issue here. The Norwegian Consumer Council feels that the policy breaks European law. However, since games can technically be downloaded prior to release, Nintendo believes that there shouldn’t be any issue.

Fast-forward a few months later, and the German Consumer Protection Authority (VZBV) is now taking legal action against Nintendo. Although this started out in Norway, because of where Nintendo of Europe is located, that’s why Germany is getting involved.

Nintendo should be heading to court in roughly three-to-four-weeks. However, it’s possible that we won’t have a proper outcome for over a year.

The Game Awards 2018 started in a rather neat fashion. Nintendo of America president Reggie Fils-Aime appeared on stage, as did Sony Interactive Entertainment Worldwide Studios boss Shawn Layden and Xbox head Phil Spencer. They weren’t there to announce anything, but rather come together and deliver a brief speech. It’s not exactly something that happens a lot.

Reggie spoke about the moment with IGN after the show last week. Here’s what he had to say:
