General Nintendo

SEGA has just released the second part of its new Sonic Mania animated web series. View the latest episode for Sonic Mania Adventures below, and stay tuned for the rest of the videos.

During the Q&A portion of Nintendo’s financial results briefing, current president Tatsumi Kimishima and upcoming president Shuntaro Furukawa fielded around a dozen questions. There was talk about Kimishima’s retirement, wanting to reach new people with Switch, continued 3DS support, interest in China, and a whole lot more.

Currently, the Q&A transcription is only in Japanese. However, Dualshockers has provided a summary, which we’ve rounded up below. We’ll also bring you more on this when the English translation is live.

Retailers have started opening pre-orders for a new Pokemon figure. The Lively Lillie figma can be reserved at Play-Asia, AmiAmi, or Good Smile.

The figma has joints that allow you to act out a variety of different scenes. It comes with three face plates, two sets of hands for holding flutes, and an articulated stand.

We have more photos of the Lively Lille figma below. It’s estimated for release in November.

Nintendo eShop

The Norwegian Consumer Council has taken issue with Nintendo – as well as a few other gaming companies – with its approach to digital purchases. When pre-ordering any game from the eShop, it’s impossible to cancel. You’re locked in to that purchase, which the Norwegian Consumer Council isn’t happy with.

The two sides have been going back and forth, with Nintendo stating that it isn’t breaking any European laws. PressFire now has the latest on the situation. Nintendo is doubling down and says that they aren’t in agreement with the NCC and says the sales contract is fulfilled since you’re able to pre-load the game immediately after pre-ordering.

Here’s a translated breakdown of the report, courtesy of Fawesum:

This week’s episode of Nintendo Minute has gone live. In today’s video, Kit and Krysta show off Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze in some pretty incredible costumes. Check out the full episode below.

GameStop has kept up its weekly tradition of restocking the SNES Classic Edition. If you’re interested, units are available here.

There’s no doubt that the SNES Classic Edition has been much more widely available compared to its predecessor. The NES Classic will also be offered again sometime this year.

Mario Tennis Aces

Nintendo announced its lineup for the MCM London Comic Con today. A few notable titles will be playable, including Mario Tennis Aces and Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker on 3DS.

The full lineup is as follows:

Earlier in the year, the Norwegian Consumer Council called out Nintendo for its eShop policies. Currently, it’s impossible to cancel pre-orders at any point before launch.

Despite asking Nintendo to change its ways and comply with the rules, the NCC says nothing has happened. A formal complaint is now being filed against Nintendo as well as a few other gaming companies. The company is said to be going against the 2011 Consumer Rights Directive that grants “a higher level of protection for consumers … in their own country or elsewhere in the EU.”

NCC’s Finn Lützow-Holm Myrstad stated that breaching Norwegian and European consumer contracts “shows a lack of clarity”.

Giles Goddard is one of the very few non-Japanese people who have worked at Nintendo’s Japanese headquarter. He’s probably most famous for working on games like Star Fox and Stunt Race FX with fellow Brit Dylan Cuthbert with their company Argonaut Software. Eurogamer just published an interview with Goddard on what it was like working for and at Nintendo in the 90s. Make sure to read the full interview here; below are a couple of interesting excerpts:
