GameCube Controller Adapter for Wii U can be used with Dolphin
Posted on 10 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in GameCube, General Nintendo, News | 8 Comments
Hacker “Elmassivo” has managed to get the GameCube Controller Adapter for Wii U working with Windows 7 and Windows 8 PCs through the well-known emulator Dolphin.
First, download this file. You’ll next need to follow the steps below that are outlined by GamesBeat:
- The very first thing you need to do is reboot your Windows 8 PC into a special mode that will enable you to install drivers that are not signed by Microsoft. Here is the step-by-step guide to doing that.
- Plug the black USB cord from the adapter into your PC.
- Wait for the USB install to fail.
- Now, run the install file that you downloaded as an administrator.
- Agree to installing the unsigned driver (at your own risk).
- Install the bundled vJoy program, which lets the GameCube controller speak to the PC.
- The GC adapter program will boot up, and you will need to click the “Start” button to enable it to work.
- Calibrate the analog sticks on your controllers by clicking on the Windows Gamepad Info button from the GCN adapter program and selecting the properties.
- If you want to use the controller with Dolphin, download these configuration files.
- Copy the files into the Dolphin folder (found at documents\dolphin\emulator\config\profiles\GCPad\).
- Boot up the Dolphin emulator, select GCPad, and load the profile.
Follow these steps and you should be golden!

Defective Samus amiibo eBay auction ends with final total of $2,500
Posted on 10 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in General Nintendo, News | 14 Comments
The eBay auction for the defective Samus amiibo has finally come to an end.
We reported a few days ago that bids had topped $1,000. Since the auction’s end, which happened today, the final bid reached $2,500.
This Samus amiibo was a hot item for one reason in particular: the two dual canons. Samus only has once, which made the figure a defect.

Nintendo files patent for Game Boy emulation on various devices including phones and PC
Posted on 10 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in General Nintendo, News | 13 Comments
Back in late June, Nintendo filed a patent in the US for “Hand-held Video Game Platform Emulation”. The application was just made public today.
The core of Nintendo’s patent is about Game Boy emulation on mobile phones, PDA’s, PC, and other devices. Game Boy, Game Boy Color, and Game Boy Advance are all mentioned in the filing.
Here’s the official abstract, which should give you a pretty good idea about what this entire thing is about:
A software emulator for emulating a handheld video game platform such as GAME BOY.RTM., GAME BOY COLOR.RTM. and/or GAME BOY ADVANCE.RTM. on a low-capability target platform (e.g., a seat-back display for airline or train use, a personal digital assistant, a cell phone) uses a number of features and optimizations to provide high quality graphics and sound that nearly duplicates the game playing experience on the native platform. Some exemplary features include use of bit BLITing, graphics character reformatting, modeling of a native platform liquid crystal display controller using a sequential state machine, and selective skipping of frame display updates if the game play falls behind what would occur on the native platform.
You can find some images from the patent below. If you’d like to check out the full filing, head on over to this link. Keep in mind that patents often are filed, but are never acted upon.
