SR Tronic forced to pay €1 million as court rules in Nintendo’s favor
Posted on 10 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in General Nintendo, News | 4 Comments
SR Tronic will be forced to pay up €1 million after the Supreme Court of Munich ruled that copy devices made to play pirated games are illegal.
Nintendo intends to use this result in lawsuits against manufacturers, stores, and import companies involved with such devices. By doing so, it hopes to benefit more than 1,400 companies who contribute to the development and sale of legitimate video games.
An appeal for the verdict is a possibility for the future. However, Nintendo believes that any additional decisions would line up with current European and German rulings.

Zero Escape creator says third game currently “difficult to realize” due to lack of funds, not giving up hope
Posted on 10 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in General Nintendo, News | 2 Comments
The third game in Spike Chunsoft’s Zero Escape series appears to have been put on hold. Series creator Kotaro Uchikoshi took to Twitter earlier today and confirmed that the game will be “difficult to realize” at the moment.
“A lot of budget is needed to make ZE series. We have to persuade the managers in order to obtain it,” Uchikoshi explained. Some “managers” at the company understand the franchise’s importance in the west, but the first two titles “are in the red” in Japan and did not meet sales expectations.
Despite all of this, Uchikoshi isn’t giving up. “For example, if the title which I make next bring about a good result, the wind might shift to another direction,” he said. “Or, if someone with executive ability (financer, producer, publisher or millionaire!) propose the investment, everything could go well. If there is an great investor who thinks ‘Virtue is its own reward’, I wish him/her to send me a message. If you know such a wonderful person, please induce him/her to cooperate.”
Uchikoshi concluded with the following words for fans:

Shining game reveal imminent, possibly on Nintendo Direct
Posted on 10 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in General Nintendo, News | 6 Comments
Update: We report with great disappointment that the game is a fighter for arcades. It definitely seemed like a Nintendo Direct announcement was coming, but it wasn’t meant to be.
Original: A new Shining game is set to be announced by day’s end, and it sounds like a reveal could be taking place during tonight’s Nintendo Direct.
On Twitter, producer Tsuyoshi Sawada teased that “a little announcement” will be made tomorrow morning. Sawada confirmed that it’s not an RPG, but didn’t give any additional details.
Today’s Nintendo Direct will be taking place at 5 PM ET, which is actually 7 AM tomorrow in Japan. You know what that means…

North American Nintendo Direct will be 41 minutes long
Posted on 10 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in General Nintendo, News | 21 Comments
Brace yourself for a fairly long Nintendo Direct presentation – at least in North America. The broadcast is expected to last approximately 41 minutes.
My guess would be that the European and Japanese streams will vary in length, though perhaps just slightly. We do know that Satoru Shibata will be appearing in the European presentation.
Anyway, it sounds like Nintendo could have quite a bit to show. Should be fun!
