The February 2018 NPD results were reported today. Switch wasn’t the top selling console, but Nintendo does have some news to feel encouraged about.

Switch has managed to achieve the highest installed base for a console platform in history in the United States. That information comes directly from analyst Mat Piscatella.

Nintendo previously announced that by the end of December 2017, Switch has sold 14.86 million units worldwide.

Following the release on the European 3DS eShop last week, Witch & Hero III will be available on the North American eShop March 22. The game retails for $3.99. Take a look at the game’s trailer in the tweet below:

Earlier today, it was announced R.B.I. Baseball 18’s release on the Switch would be delayed until later this Spring. Per the tweet below, we now have confirmation the game is due for release in April.

Hazelight Studios’ Lucas de Vries weighed in yesterday as to why A Way Out isn’t on Switch. Director Josef Fares has now commented as well.

Like de Vries, Fares pointed out that the game requires camera controls, which can’t really be done if you want to play on a single Joy-Con. He also brought up that the team hasn’t really looked into Switch yet, and he’s “not saying it will never happen.”

Nintendo eShop

Nintendo hosted a Nindies panel at GDC 2018 today. Among what was discussed, the company highlighted strong digital sales and touched on improvements planned for the Switch eShop.

First, as USgamer supports, digital sales of third-party games for Switch and 3DS are exceeding sales of traditional boxed games in the US. Nintendo also said that eShop navigation will be improved on Switch for “better discoverability”. With more and more games coming to Switch each week, it’s difficult for titles to stand out and for consumers to find them. It sounds like Nintendo will be looking to improve the situation in the future.

One of the notable elements we previously heard about with Travis Strikes Again: No More Heroes is the game’s indie collaborations. This wasn’t spoken of as of late, but we finally have some concrete news on that front.

It’s been announced that Travis Strikes Again: No More Heroes will feature Hyper Light Drifter gear that you can wear. Further specifics haven’t been provided, so it’s currently unclear if this is just a cosmetic bonus.

Hyper Light Drifter was actually just announced for Switch a short while ago. Abylight and Heart Machine will have it ready for this summer.
