Level-5 prepared a brand new trailer for Layton’s Mystery Journey, which is on the way to 3DS. View it below.
Along with today’s trailer, Level-5 announced a partnership with SCRAP for a “Real World Puzzle Solving” campaign. Here’s what we know about it:
“To commemorate the release of Layton’s Mystery Journey: Katrielle and The Millionaires’ Conspiracy, Level-5 has teamed up with SCRAP — a company that creates real escape games — to produce a puzzle-solving event that challenges users around the world to solve 50 puzzles that appear on the internet and in special locations in 10 countries, including Japan, the U.S., the U.K., South Korea, and Australia. This world-wide event will take place for roughly three months, starting on June 20 and ending on September 21.”
The first puzzle is about Pikotaro’s “Pen-Pineapple-Apple-Pen” song. You can participate on the official site at Layton.world.

Video: A look at Switch’s fantastic new feature of helping you find detached controllers

Switch received a number of new features tonight part of the 3.0.0 update. Among them is the ability to find paired controllers within communication range by activating the vibration feature.
The way it works is pretty simple. You simply need to visit the “Controllers” section on the Home Menu, choose the “Find Controllers” option, and tap on any of the controllers you see on the screen. Any controllers in range will then rumble and essentially emit a sound so that you can locate them.

This could really come in handy if you’ve removed your Joy-Con, but are unsure where you’ve placed them. If they’re nearby, the vibration and sound should help you out.

Nintendo has just pushed out a fairly substantial update for Switch. After applying the firmware, your system will be at version 3.0.0.
Today’s update doesn’t add a ton in terms of new features. However, there is some new functionality, and a number of improvements such as the ability to add friends from Wii U and 3DS, new Splatoon 2 icons, a fix for issues with HDMI input change, and much more.

Danmaku Unlimited 3 is in development for Switch, Doragon Entertainment has announced. The bullet hell game will be released on Switch later this year.

Metroid: Samus Returns development complete, Sakamoto on the wait for 2D Metroid, Other M criticism, more

Kotaku was one of several outlets that went hands-on with Metroid: Samus Returns at E3 last week. The site also spoke with some of the people involved with the game.
According to Tim O’Leary from Nintendo Treehouse, development is complete. Perhaps that not massively surprisingly given how it’s due out in just a few months. Still, it’s pretty interesting to hear.
Kotaku also shares some new comments from producer Yoshio Sakamoto. Sakamoto was asked why Samus Returns is on 3DS rather than Switch, why it’s taken so long for a new 2D Metroid, criticism of Metroid: Other M, and how the 2D / 3D Metroids are handled at Nintendo.

ARMS devs on the game’s prototype days, designing characters, plenty of lore coming, more

Rocket League on Switch will have the same features as other versions, other news

IGN has more on the new Switch version of Rocket League. The site spoke with Psyonix vice president Jeremy Dunham and producer Bobby Garza about the game.
Psyonix is including all features from other versions on Switch. This includes Season mode, Hoops, Drop Shot, Rumble, and Snowday. Up to eight Switch units will be supported with local multiplayer, and up to four players to play splitscreen when the Switch is docked and two when undocked.
We’ve heard that the team is targeting 60 frames per second on Switch. That includes splitscreen as well, but we won’t know for sure until release. Other potential features like motion control and HD Rumble are also undecided.
