Update: New location – Status of Apex 2015 in question, hotel violates safety codes
Posted on 9 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in General Nintendo, News | 1 Comment
Update: A new location has been found for Apex 2015:
Right now #Apex2015 will be slated to move to a new venue, however please no competitors for Friday. There will be no tournament today.
— Team Apex (@apex_series) January 30, 2015
Apex 2015 could be over before having ever been started. A series of unexpected events may have, sadly, lead to the cancellation of the tournament.
Things began when an emergency door was opened at the hotel where Apex 2015 is being hosted. After fire marshals inspected the area, it was determined that event rooms were unsuitable. It’s also been revealed that the parking garage partially collapsed due to a recent storm in New Jersey.
The status of Apex 2015 is unclear at the moment. However, it sounds like we’re due for an official update later in the day.
#Apex2015 is on hold. We are currently working with Fire Marshals and hotel to remedy the situation. Thank you for your understanding

We're going to be making a PSA on http://t.co/d0CcZVfU94 in about 2 hours. We'll have an update during the stream. @VGBootCamp #Apex2015

I want to reiterate, there are NO tournament sets going on right now. NO sets are being run in hotel rooms or anywhere else.

Following a business analysis conducted by the Group Structure Reform Division beginning last May, Sega has decided to move forward with operations to focus on mobile and online PC games.
This decision has led to the offering of early retirement of almost 300 staff members.
In a statement by Sega:
Voluntary retirement will be solicited in the aforementioned businesses to be withdrawn or consolidated and downsized, while at the same time personnel will be repositioned in digital games and growth areas of Group mainly as development personnel, in order to establish a structure which can constantly generate profits.
