Rumor: Netflix working on live-action The Legend of Zelda TV series
Posted on 9 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in General Nintendo, Rumors | 27 Comments
If a new report from the Wall Street Journal is to be believed, Netflix is cooking up a new live-action television show based on The Legend of Zelda.
The site says that things are “in the early stages” at present. A source close to the Wall Street Journal claims that the series is “about an ordinary boy named Link who must rescue a princess named Zelda and save a fantasy world called Hyrule” – essentially Zelda as we know it. It’s being described as a family-friendly Game of Thrones, with Nintendo having a heavy involvement.
At present, Netflix is seeking a writer for the project. Since it’s such a long ways off, the Wall Street Journal points out that Netflix or Nintendo could kill the series off before things progress too far.
Keep in mind that this report has not been officially confirmed. Netflix declined to comment, and Nintendo has not yet responded.

Rumor: Gold and silver Mario amiibo on the way

Super Mario series amiibo apparently won’t be rare
Posted on 9 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in General Nintendo, Rumors | 14 Comments
Amazon opened up pre-orders for the new Super Mario amiibo series last week. In just a few hours, stock was mostly gone. Yet despite the seemingly high demand for these new amiibo, none will be rare. Apparently.
Destructoid, citing a trusted source from GameStop, says that Nintendo was “confused” by the rush to pick up the latest amiibo. Representatives are telling GameStop and others stores that the figures will be stocked in “abundance,” and that no one should worry about not getting them on the first round of pre-orders. While Toad will allegedly be the “lightest allocation,” he will still not be considered “rare.”

Update: Confirmed – Target apparently not restocking Rosalina amiibo, won’t have some wave 3 figures in store
Posted on 9 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in General Nintendo, Rumors | 14 Comments
Update (2/2) Destructoid appears to have confirmed this news. Check out the following:
A Target employee has confirmed the authenticity of this document, an internal newsletter called “The Vibe in Electronics.” They state that running out of stock and not getting more shipments for a Target exclusive item is common. They also cement the fact that Sheik may be rare as there haven’t been many shipments coming in at all, but Toon Link is in fact common.
If you’re living in the U.S. and have interest in the Rosalina amiibo, you may want to try finding product sooner rather than later. An internal memo from Target indicates that the figure will not be restocked. As many of you know, Target is the only retailer selling the Rosalina amiibo in the United States.
There are some other interesting points from the memo as well. For instance, Target will apparently not stock the Mega Man, Sonic, King Dedede, and Ike amiibo in store. Consumers will instead be directed to order from the retailer’s website.
Rumor: Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D no longer being manufactured, according to Play-Asia
Posted on 9 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in General Nintendo, Rumors | 8 Comments
We’ve been hearing a lot about how difficult it’s been to track down a physical copy of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D. Amazon, for instance, is no longer selling copies directly, and third-parties are asking for ridiculous prices ($74 and higher).
The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D’s rarity may come down to the fact that retail copies are no longer being produced. If retailer Play-Asia is to be believed, the game’s physical version has been discontinued. If true, the only way to pick up Ocarina of Time 3D at a fair price is through the digital version on the eShop.
Rumor: Code Name: S.T.E.A.M to receive a demo via DL code

At this time this rumor has not been 100% confirmed but it would appear as if the upcoming title Code Name: S.T.E.A.M. will be receiving a demo, available through a download code that will be given out at Gamestop. There has been reports posted to NeoGaf that some stores has already been giving out cards with the codes. There are pictures of the cards that have all been posted at this time so it appears that this could be legit. However the code does not appear to be working currently.
Check out the images below:

Nintendo of Australia email lists new Fire Emblem 3DS game for 2015

The new Fire Emblem game for 3DS is heading to Japan this summer. It’d probably make sense for it to arrive overseas this year then, right? While we don’t have official confirmation, an email from Nintendo of Australia suggests that the new Fire Emblem will indeed launch in 2015. I’d be surprised if this doesn’t turn out to be true!

A trailer shown for Splatoon last year gave us a brief look at the game’s single-player campaign. You may remember an incredibly brief scene included in the video that showed some sort of 2D gameplay.
This may have resurfaced during this week’s Nintendo Direct. Take a look at the screencap below:
Perhaps we’ll be able to play the 2D game at this arcade machine?

Will KOS-MOS from Xenosaga be in Project Treasure?
Posted on 9 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in Rumors, Wii U eShop | 12 Comments
Bandai Namco announced the mysterious free-to-play Wii U eShop title “Project Treasure” during yesterday’s Nintendo Direct. Not much was shown, as we were mostly left with teases here and there.
We did get to see a few things though – like four partial character portraits. Some fans have done some investigating and may have uncovered the identity of one of these characters.
First, take a look at this snapshot from yesterday’s video:
And now look at this image:
That’s KOS-MOS from Xenosaga. KOS-MOS does resemble one of the characters featured in the portraits. Might she be in Project Treasure?

Rumor: New 3DS promotional ad surfaces, features February 13 launch date
Posted on 9 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in New Nintendo 3DS, Rumors | 76 Comments
Rumors have been flying about over the past day or so regarding the New 3DS launch date. Last night, Gamnesia reported that the system would be launching on February 13 in North America. We chose to hold off on posting any speculation until some sort of concrete piece of proof surfaced, and it now looks like we have just that.
A promotional ad for the New 3DS surfaced online today. If true, the date mentioned lines up with rumors about a February 13 arrival for the system.
Red and black New 3DS XL colors are prominently featured in the ad. The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask 3D and Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate are included as well. Might one (or both) of these titles be coming out on February 13 as well? All should be clear after tomorrow’s Nintendo Direct airs, presumably!
