Rumors

The new Fire Emblem game for 3DS is heading to Japan this summer. It’d probably make sense for it to arrive overseas this year then, right? While we don’t have official confirmation, an email from Nintendo of Australia suggests that the new Fire Emblem will indeed launch in 2015. I’d be surprised if this doesn’t turn out to be true!

A trailer shown for Splatoon last year gave us a brief look at the game’s single-player campaign. You may remember an incredibly brief scene included in the video that showed some sort of 2D gameplay.

This may have resurfaced during this week’s Nintendo Direct. Take a look at the screencap below:

Perhaps we’ll be able to play the 2D game at this arcade machine?

Bandai Namco announced the mysterious free-to-play Wii U eShop title “Project Treasure” during yesterday’s Nintendo Direct. Not much was shown, as we were mostly left with teases here and there.

We did get to see a few things though – like four partial character portraits. Some fans have done some investigating and may have uncovered the identity of one of these characters.

First, take a look at this snapshot from yesterday’s video:

And now look at this image:

That’s KOS-MOS from Xenosaga. KOS-MOS does resemble one of the characters featured in the portraits. Might she be in Project Treasure?

Rumors have been flying about over the past day or so regarding the New 3DS launch date. Last night, Gamnesia reported that the system would be launching on February 13 in North America. We chose to hold off on posting any speculation until some sort of concrete piece of proof surfaced, and it now looks like we have just that.

A promotional ad for the New 3DS surfaced online today. If true, the date mentioned lines up with rumors about a February 13 arrival for the system.

Red and black New 3DS XL colors are prominently featured in the ad. The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask 3D and Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate are included as well. Might one (or both) of these titles be coming out on February 13 as well? All should be clear after tomorrow’s Nintendo Direct airs, presumably!

Okay, I’m sorry. I just had to post this. It’s part hilarious, part stupid. But here you go! It’s a Marth amiibo… with an extra head. The sheer strangeness of it all is one reason why I’m marking this as a rumor.

If you want this particular amiibo, you’ll need to fork over $1,500. I can’t recommend anyone doing that. That being said, I wouldn’t be entirely surprised to see it sell!

Although we don’t have official confirmation, it’s looking like the Samus and Fox amiibo could be phased out at Target stores. Employee Zach “iamxZ3R0” Collins shared the photo above on Facebook, which indicates that the Fox figure is no longer available. Zach has also apparently confirmed that Samus is showing as discontinued as well.

Update (12/25/14): Aaaaaaaaand it’s wallpaper. Hopefully you kept those expectations in check!

PlatinumGames posted the following message on Twitter earlier today:

It’s basically a message saying that it’s Christmas Eve, and Rodin will have a present tomorrow. Fans are advised to check Platinum Games’ Facebook page.

Platinum also shared the following English message on Twitter:

I can’t say I know what this is about. It could certainly end up being nothing, so I’d suggest keeping expectations in check!

iNiS made two Ouendan for the DS back in the day. Supposedly, there were plans to create a third entry for Wii.

Unseen64’s Liam Robertson was in communication with “a very trusted source”, who spoke with iNiS’ president and was informed about the company’s intentions to bring Ouendan to Wii. It’s unclear why those plans never materialized. Robertson hopes to learn more about the situation in the future.

Four retailer-exclusive amiibo have already been confirmed for North America. Shulk will only be available at GameStop, Best Buy is the exclusive store for Meta Knight, Lucario is at Toys “R” Us, and Target has Rosalina and Luma.

This might not be the end of retailer-exclusive amiibo, sadly. Check out this message from one Best Buy Canada representative:

Having anything be retailer-exclusive isn’t what anyone wants to see. I guess we’ll see how this plays out!

Though set to release on January 2nd next year, UK retailer GAME is reportedly selling Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker a bit before schedule. In related news, GAME are still in business. Reports are showing that shipments of the Wii U game have an “availability” date of 19/12/2014, online orders are currently being shipped and stores will have the game in stock on Monday – just in time for Christmas! Then again, there’s always a chance that Nintendo will put a stop to all this street-date-breaking, so don’t count your Toads before they, er, ship.
