Update: Bumped to the top. Aksys Games has now made an official announcement, and it’s due out this fall. The official website is here.

Aksys Games is localizing The Apprentice Witch and Fluffy Friends for North America, a listing on Amazon has revealed. It will be known as “Moco Moco Friends” here in the west.

Moco Moco Friends made its way to Japan back in April. It’s a fantasy RPG where humans and creatures with mysterious powers known as Muppets coexist. In the game, players will find a comical story of a young girl who aims to be the Muppet master.

Here are some additional details from Amazon’s listing:

– Battle against your rivals, scavenge items, venture through massive dungeons
– Evolve your Moppet monsters and travel with your companions across the magical realm of Dreamt ropy
– Lead your Moppets to victory in turn based battles. Fight, befriend and evolve Moppets on your quest to banish evil from Dreamt ropy
– 120 types of Moppet monsters to collect
– Teleport to dungeons using the town portal/gate. The garden allows the player to grow crops or collect items

Amazon lists a tentative November 17 release date for Moco Moco Friends. You can read more about the game in our original report here.

It’s tough to believe that it was so long ago, but the 3DS was released during the early part of 2011. The system is now over four years old. Having said that, some are beginning to wonder when Nintendo will retire the 3DS for its successor.

In the case of NIS America president and CEO Takuro Yamashita, he believes that the 3DS still has another two to three years to go in the west. He told MCV:

“Talking about the handheld devices in the West, PlayStation Vita and 3DS will fade out in the next two to three years. There is still a chance for Vita or 3DS games in the West. I bet you that the small publishers can benefit without having strong competition if they continue to publish games for Vita and 3DS.”
