Fighting EX: Layer Another Dash netcode 2.2.0

Fighting EX Layer: Another Dash will soon be getting a 2.2.0 update on Switch with “the next generation of netcode”, Arika president Akira Nishitani announced during the Fighting Game Roundtable 3 earlier today. The patch is planned for an April 1, 2022 release. Despite going out on that day, Nishitani confirmed that it’s not an April Fools’ Joke.

Earlier this month, Akira released a video demonstrating the use of the new netcode system and how it will improve the experience. Check out the full comparison video below.

Nine Sols

Red Candle Games, the studio behind Detention, opened a new crowdfunding campaign this week for Nine Sols. The funding goal of roughly $105,900 has already been reached, and the project is tentatively planned for Switch.

As far as systems are concerned, Red Candle Games explained that it’s planning release on “both the Nintendo and Sony consoles.” But porting won’t begin until the game’s development is nearing its end, “and due to the fact that Nine Sols’ development is in between console generations, it is difficult to provide a definitive list of supported platforms at the moment.” However, the team already has a Switch devkit.

Kung Fury: Street Rage - Ultimate Edition

Publisher Aurora Punks and developer Hello There Games today announced that Kung Fury: Street Rage – Ultimate Edition, a beat ’em up adventure, is on the way to Switch. A release is planned for this summer – expect a final release date to be shared soon.

The game is based on the Kung Fury film by Laser Unicorns and has players taking control of five different characters including Kung Fury, Hackerman, and even David Hasselhoff. The Switch edition comes with the Arcade Strikes Back and A Day at the Beach expansions, with the latter piece of content containing an entirely additional experience featuring a 2-player co-op mode, all-new levels, and boss battles.

Here’s a rundown of features that fans can expect from the game:

LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga is the newest installment in the long-running LEGO series. Recently as part of a press preview, I had the opportunity to watch more than 40 minutes of gameplay for the title ahead of its launch and I came away quite impressed.

The game appears to be a departure from the classic LEGO formula. New layers of complexity are added to the gameplay, making the whole experience feel more engaging and truly different from past games in the series. You can check out my full impressions and the gameplay footage in the video down below.

Ages of Cataria

Ages of Cataria has been on Kickstarter where it’s found a ton of success. Despite looking to raise only $10,000, Third Pie Studios ended up with $80,000. After reaching that mark, a Switch stretch goal was also achieved.

triangle strategy review

System: Switch
Release date: March 4, 2022
Developer: Square Enix / Artdink
Publisher: Square Enix

Square Enix’s Team Asano has been a force to be reckoned with on Switch. Their debut on the system, Octopath Traveler, was a showpiece at the first real Switch blowout in January 2017 and released the following year to great acclaim. Returning to the glory of their 3DS days, the highly requested Bravely Default 2 came out just last year. Now the third entry in the team’s Switch JRPG trifecta returns to Octopath’s HD-2D style, but delivers gameplay so different that it might as well be considered a different genre. That certainly doesn’t hold it back however: different as it is, Triangle Strategy is a tremendous overall package and possibly Team Asano’s finest work yet.
