[Review] The Next Penelope
Posted on 7 years ago by Jakob Vujovic(@jakovujo) in Reviews, Switch eShop | 1 Comment
System: Switch (eShop)
Release date: December 21, 2017
Developer: Aurélien Regard / Seaven Studio
Publisher: Plug In Digital
Set in a far-future interpretation of one of the oldest pieces of western literature, The Next Penelope has an engaging aesthetic wrapper for its gameplay mixture of top-down shooter and Micro Machines style racing. As novel as space Poseidon might be, these narrative elements are also its flimsiest facet. The snippets of dialogue that are peppered throughout the game’s five main major challenges fumble with some inelegant wording, odd grammar, and a few comma splices. The premise isn’t given the space to develop into much beyond passing references to the Odyssey. Fortunately, this is all just window dressing – the game’s hectic arcade-style shooting fares much better in blending somewhat dissonant gameplay concepts. It comes together as an impressively well constructed genre hybrid.

Posted on 7 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in News, Switch eShop | 7 Comments
Inti Creates, the developer of the Azure Striker Gunvolt series, has been hard at work on its new game Dragon Marked for Death. Originally, it was slated for Winter 2017. With the lack of news since the original announcement, Inti Creates shared the expected news today that the game is now coming sometime in 2018 instead.
The official Twitter account posted the following earlier today:
We wanted to give everyone an update on the release timeframe for Dragon Marked for Death. The team is working day and night to make this game the absolute best it it can be, and thus, the game will now release sometime in 2018.
Thank you very much for your patience. pic.twitter.com/2TufBYE8uN

2017 is almost up, so it would have been very surprising for Dragon Marked for Death to be released within the next couple of weeks. You can at least rest easy knowing that Inti Creates is doing everything possible to make the game as great as it can be.
