Switch

Nintendo will again be carrying out maintenance this coming week. Three different sessions are currently planned, and they all involve Switch.

Here’s the schedule as things stand now:

The Wonderful 101: Remastered

It’s been awhile since we last saw The Wonderful 101. After the game launched on Wii U in 2013 and perhaps didn’t reach as many people as it could have, fans were hoping that a port would end up on Switch. That’s finally happening, as PlatinumGames recently announced a Kickstarter campaign to revisit The Wonderful 101 and release it on new platforms, including Switch. It took less than thirty minutes for the funding goal to be reached.

Prior to the announcement, Nintendo Everything spoke with director Hideki Kamiya and studio head Atsushi Inaba. One of the first questions we asked is what made PlatinumGames want to revisit The Wonderful 101.

In response, Kamiya told us:

Nintendo

During the Dragon Ball FighterZ World Finals, new information about the fighting game was announced.

Season 3 and FighterZ Pass 3 are officially happening with even more DLC characters. Five additions are planned, starting with Kefla at the end of February. Goku (Ultra Instinct), who was previously announced, will follow this summer.

Those who purchase FighterZ Pass 3 will get two days of early access to each character. That means with Kefla, you’ll be able to start playing on February 26 instead of February 28.

Here’s a trailer for FighterZ Pass 3:

Update (2/9): Pre-orders are up on Amazon UK here and Amazon Germany here.

Update (2/4): Amazon US has opened pre-orders here.

Update (2/3): This is now up on Amazon Canada.

Update (1/31): The Nintendo UK store has opened pre-orders here.

Original (1/30): Every now and then Nintendo comes out with a special edition Switch. To celebrate Animal Crossing: New Horizons, a special hardware design will be available. You can read more about it in our original post here.

Retailers have started opening pre-orders for the new release. Right now you can get a reservation in at either Best Buy or GameStop.

In other news, we have the packaging image for the box above.

In this week’s issue of Famitsu, Super Smash Bros. Ultimate director Masahiro Sakurai wrote up his latest column in the Japanese magazine. Many of his pieces as of late haven’t been related to the Switch game, but seeing as Byleth has now been added, he felt he should publish a few words on the character’s creation.

We published a brief summary of Sakurai’s column a few days ago. Now, however, we have a full translation – which does include some quick mentions of Smash Bros. having too many Fire Emblem characters and sword-users.

Here’s the full piece:

A substantial pre-order bonus has been revealed for Metro Redux on Switch. By reserving the game, players will receive access to the Ranger Cache Pre-order Pack.

The pack comes with a host of physical goodies. It includes a double sided alternate inlay, game case sleeve, pin badge set, double sided art cards, and one A2 double-sided poster.

You can pre-order Metro Redux for Switch on GameStop. It’s also up on Amazon without the bonus, so it’s unclear if this will be a GameStop-exclusive.

Thanks to Jake for the tip.

During the Dragon Ball FighterZ World Finals today, new features were unveiled for the fighting game.

One of the upcoming elements players can expect is the “Z Assist Select” system. Producer Tomoko Hiroki explained that it will be possible to choose three Assist Attacks for a character, allowing for “new ways to connect combos and build strategies, giving users a broader way to enjoy fights.”

Hiroki also touched on other changes. Another feature is in the works that will “prevent one sided games caused by specific powerful attacks and combinations as well as adjustments that give users a chance to turn the tables, even if they only have one character left.” That’s on top of an updated UI as well.

Here’s the full rundown from Hiroki:

Animal Crossing: New Horizons

Nintendo has opened the official teaser site for Animal Crossing: New Horizons. You can access it here.

The site should have its full grand opening closer to release. For now though, you can hit up a trailer and some screenshots as well as read up on some gameplay details.

Animal Crossing: New Horizons launches for Switch on March 20.
