Nintendo has opened the official North American teaser site for Astral Chain. You can access it here.

While we wait for the full site to open, you can watch a trailer for the game and view some screenshots. Plenty of gameplay details are included as well.

Astral Chain launches for Switch on August 30.

Thanks to Jake for the tip.

At E3 2019, Square Enix revealed Final Fantasy VIII Remastered, and it’s coming to Switch. A couple of retailers then listed the game, which indicated that a physical release is planned. Of course, that doesn’t actually mean much until pre-orders open.

Enter Play-Asia. The retailer has just opened reservations for the RPG, further confirming that a physical version is happening. Pre-orders are available for US and European versions. We’ll have to see if the $59.99 price point sticks, but this is good news for collectors.

Final Fantasy VIII is due out on Switch later this year.

Nihon Falcom president Toshihiro Kondo has previously stated that it would be difficult to bring its games to Switch due to a lack of experience with the system and having to focus on its fan base that lies with PlayStation platforms. However, other companies stepping in to port its games are very much a possibility. We did see an example of this when Nippon Ichi Software handled Ys VIII for Switch.

Although it’s unclear what to expect from Falcom going forward, Kondo did share an encouraging comment with DualShockers. When asked about the possibility of additional Switch ports, he said:

Developer nWay has posted a video that shows off a ton of footage from upcoming Power Rangers: Battle for the Grid DLC character Lord Zedd footage. Check it out below.

Fire Emblem: Three Houses

Right around Fire Emblem: Three Houses’ launch, we learned that a new, even harder difficulty mode would be added to the game. The details surrounding it haven’t been officially shared, but thanks to the efforts of dataminer DeathChaos25, we have some earlier information.

It’s tough to believe, but Shovel Knight’s journey is almost at its end. After the original game’s debut way back in 2014, Shovel Knight: King of Cards and Shovel Knight Showdown will finally be wrapping things up later this year. While we’ll have to wait a bit longer than expected since a delay was announced a couple of months ago, the last bit of Shovel Knight content should be wrapped up very soon.

We recently spoke with Yacht Club Games pixel artist and animator Sandy Gordon about Shovel Knight: King of Cards and Showdown, along with a bunch of other things. Gordon commented on how the two titles have changed since we’ve first heard about them, what to expect from Showdown’s story mode, and more. Other topics include a special “Dumb Ideas” document Yacht Club Games has, Switch sales, what lies ahead for the future, and we even tried to ask about Shovel Knight’s appearance in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate – with limited success.
