Nintendo and Microsoft already share a relationship through Minecraft and its support of cross-platform play between Switch and Xbox One. However, it seems this can be taken a step further.

At GDC next month, Microsoft will be hosting a panel to discuss its goal of having Xbox Live cross-platform play on additional titles outside of Minecraft. As Window Central notes, “Developers will be able to bake cross-platform Xbox Live achievements, social systems, and multiplayer, into games built for mobile devices and Nintendo Switch, as part of its division-wide effort to grow Xbox Live’s userbase.”

Digital Foundry has taken a different approach to its latest Switch technical analysis. Rather than focusing on one game, the outlet has instead examined four: Travis Strikes Again, Octahedron, Battle Princess Madelyn, and Firewatch.

Nintendo Switch Online

Nintendo’s maintenance schedule for the coming week has started to populate. A couple of sessions are currently planned, both related to Switch.

The schedule – as of now – is as follows:

Giga Wrecker Alt., a new title from Pokemon developer Game Freak, was confirmed for Switch last week. Rising Star Games is getting involved and will even offer a physical version through Limited Run Games.

Giga Wrecker Alt. actually came out on Steam previously. However, for its console release, new content has been added.

Another Splatfest for Splatoon 2 is in the books. This weekend, Nintendo had its latest event running in Japan. A comedy duo theme from the original Splatoon returned in which one person is known as the funny man and the other is the straight man.

After a day of battles, the Splatfest has concluded. Here’s a look at how things panned out:

Square Enix’s handling of Final Fantasy X / X-2 HD Remaster’s physical release on Switch is a bit out of the ordinary. While the first game will be included on a cartridge, we’ve been hearing that the second game will be in the box as a digital code.

That still holds true for North America and Europe. In fact, the European packaging has already been updated to show that Final Fantasy X-2 HD Remaster is download only:
