If you’re playing Splatoon 2 online with friends, you can’t chat just with the Switch itself. Nintendo set up that the system so that a separate Nintendo Switch Online app is required. LAN play, however, is another story.

Splatoon 2 released several weeks ago. Despite that, one piece of information is making the rounds today. It turns out that when playing the game through LAN, voice chat is built-in.

You’ll be able to hear friends in lobbies and while playing Salmon Run. Other multiplayer gameplay doesn’t feature voice chat since you’re on separate teams. It sounds like as long as you have a headset with a mic included, voice chat is possible without any extras.
