Reggie on admiration from Nintendo fans, Switch’s early success
Posted on 7 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in General Nintendo, News, Switch | 26 Comments
Nintendo of America president Reggie Fils-Aime has a great deal of admiration within the Nintendo community. Between his initial appearance when he joined the company in 2004 to his famous “My body is ready” quote, fans have really become attached to him.
CBC recently asked Reggie about what it’s like having his fans and becoming a meme in a way. Regarding this, he noted:
“I was a fan and a player before I was an executive with the company. I grew up playing the Super Nintendo. My favourite game is The Legend of Zelda: Link to the Past. And for me, it was serendipity.
I think what our fans see is someone who loves the content, who loves the company. I’m passionate about what I do. I’m fortunate that some very creative things come out of my mouth, and then the fan base just takes it and runs with it. It’s been a fantastic journey, now coming up on almost 14 years.”

Posted on 7 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in News, Switch | 11 Comments
YouTube has provided an official listing of the most-viewed games from E3 2017. Super Mario Odyssey made the list, taking the sixth spot.
Here’s the full results:
As far as trailers go specifically, Super Mario Odyssey was second with 5.5 million views. Nintendo’s video is now almost at nearly nine million views. YouTube says the game’s placement is “impressive” given how it was one of the last games shown at E3.

Today, Game Informer put up a lengthy interview with Splatoon 2 producer Hisashi Nogami and lead programmer Shintaro Sato. Plenty was discussed here, including Salmon Run, letting players share art and messages, Splatfests, how much content will be available at launch, why voice chat is limited to friends / other familiar people, and music. There were other topics sprinkled in as well.
We’ve rounded up some of the noteworthy comments from Nogami and Sato below. You can read the full interview on Game Informer here.

Xenoblade Chronicles 2 – overview of the world, terms, characters
Posted on 7 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in News, Switch | 12 Comments
Following its appearance in the Nintendo Spotlight presentation at E3, the official Japanese Xenoblade Chronicles 2 website opened. Even if you don’t know a lick of Japanese, it’s worth visiting since it contains four pieces of music from the game.
The page also introduces the world’s concept, some of the terms and characters used in the game. You can find a full translation of that below.
‘Arst’, world concealed by an ocean of clouds
There are numerous creatures living within the cloud ocean, this especially enormous creature is called a “Titan”
(Ars).
Humans have created a settlement on top of Ars.* Note: Nintendo Treehouse used the term “Titan” for the giant creatures in the game.
‘Blade’
A variant life-form born when a human touches a core crystal.
Blade are born along with a weapon, dedicating their existence to the human that created them and growing alongside them. They’re cleaving a path through the conflict.

Pokemon Switch will be “a traditional find, battle, train type experience”
Posted on 7 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in News, Switch | 88 Comments
Some fans were a bit disappointed with this month’s Pokemon Direct due to a lack of news regarding a mainline Pokemon title for Switch. During E3 this week though, Nintendo remedied that. Nothing was shown, but during the Nintendo Spotlight broadcast, Pokemon president Tsunekazu Ishihara announced that Game Freak has started work on a core title for Switch.
Bloomberg asked Nintendo of America president Reggie Fils-Aime about the project following the presentation. He naturally didn’t have much to say, though he did note that it’s “a traditional find, battle, train type experience”.
While you wait for the first true Pokemon game for Switch, Pokken Tournament DX launches on September 22. Pokemon Ultra Sun/Ultra Moon are also due out on November 17.
