Nintendo Switch Sports review

System: Switch
Release date: April 29, 2022
Developer: Nintendo
Publisher: Nintendo

If, like me, you grew up when the Wii was current, you no doubt put some time in on Wii Sports. Packed in with each new console here in the west, the title was a lot of players’ first introduction to the console’s motion controls, as well as their first time being able to engage with family members who wouldn’t usually think of playing video games. Wii Sports itself became a system-seller and its popularity is still raging to this day, with many homes still dusting off their Wii for play sessions at family gatherings to entertain kids and adults alike. Now with Switch’s success, a new entry in the series has arrived – but will it reach the acclaim of its predecessors?

Mayhem Brawler physical

Mayhem Brawler, which has thus far only been available on the eShop, will soon have a physical release on Switch. Red Art Games is planning a boxed version of the game.

The company will be readying 2,900 units. Each copy will even include a double-sided poster.

live a live development length

In a recent interview with Japanese magazine Famitsu, original Live A Live director Takashi Tokita spoke about how the team made the upcoming Switch release a reality.

In addition to explaining how the remake ended up in HD-2D, Tokita spoke about the game’s short development cycle, which began at the beginning of 2019 and continued through the pandemic.

Our translation of his full comments can be found below.

time on frog island gameplay

Time on Frog Island has a couple of months to go until its debut, but we have a new look at the gameplay straight from the Switch version. Fans can watch just under an hour of footage.

For more on Time on Frog Island, read the following overview:

A new wave of Nintendo maintenance is set to take place over the next couple of weeks. Switch will be impacted over a couple of different sessions – using a credit card on the eShop and parent / guardian confirmation.

The full maintenance schedule as things stand now is as follows:

It seems with every passing year we get more and more creative minds in the indie space expanding certain genres and what it means to perceive gameplay within them. One of the more popular areas of growth and reach we’ve seen in recent memory is through the guise of simulators – whether they may be farming sims, life sims, etc. – and how their flexibility can create such a creative playground for forward-thinking ideas that make for cathartic, memorable, and almost addictive experiences. Time on Frog Island, formerly known as Trading Time: A Croak Tale, is next up in a slew of releases in an ever-growing genre that seems to push ideas and the concept of sims forward with each new title – however inspired they may be by the giants of the genre – and it’s a pleasure to have had an early look at the game on Switch to see just where the minds at Half Past Yellow lie and how they’re making their version of what it means to be stranded on an island and having to start from scratch.

Astro Aqua Kitty Pawsome Collection, Catlateral Damage: Remeowstered physical

Two more Switch titles are getting the physical treatment, as Astro Aqua Kitty Pawsome Collection and Catlateral Damage: Remeowstered are confirmed to be getting boxed versions.

Both titles are being offered through Limited Run Games’ “distribution line”. That means there aren’t any special editions planned, though Astro Aqua Kitty Pawsome Collection will have a soundtrack bundle.

Mario Strikers: Battle League character art

Mario Strikers: Battle League heads to Switch this month, and we have even more on the game now. Nintendo opened the official Japanese website and it provides some goodies. Along with some new gameplay, we also have a bunch of character art for the various roster participants.
