Wii U

A new Smash Bros. presentation will be held on June 14, Nintendo has announced. Masahiro Sakurai, director of the Wii U and 3DS games, is leading the proceedings.

Here’s the breakdown of relevant times:

– 7:40 AM PT
– 10:40 AM ET
– 3:40 PM in the UK
– 4:40 PM in Europe

In an announcement sent out to the media, Nintendo says Sakurai will be outlining the details of Lucas’ inclusion in Smash Bros., the new Miiverse stage on Wii U, and Mii Fighter costumes inspired by Splatoon. It’s unclear what else – if anything – will be shown.

We finally have a confirmation that Terraria is in the works for Wii U and 3DS. Ratings for both versions have been listed on various retailers and ratings boards, but publisher 505 Games never made an official announcement. While that still hasn’t changed, developer Re-Logic stepped forward with a confirmation of their own.

“Terraria is indeed coming to Wii U and 3DS,” lead developer Whitney Baird noted on the game’s forum.

We don’t have any information beyond this, but at least we can finally say that Terraria is bound for both of Nintendo’s platforms. I imagine we’ll be hearing more soon enough!

Entries on GameFly indicate that Nintendo will be handling the release of Mario & Sonic at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games – at least in North America. The retailer has Nintendo listed as the publisher of both the Wii U and 3DS versions.

Mario & Sonic at the Sochi 2014 Olympic Winter Games was the first entry in the series Nintendo published worldwide. Prior to that, SEGA was in charge of publishing in all regions except for Japan, where the Big N handled things.

A few new screenshots from Mario & Sonic at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games were added to the Rio 2016 blog before being pulled just a few moments later. You can check them out below.

Apparently, there were a few other screenshots on the blog as well. They showed Sonic competing in Archery, -Zazz (against Yoshi) preparing to serve in Table Tennis, Rugby 7s with 3 Marios, 2 Sonics, Diddy Kong, Boom Booms and Egg Pawns, and Rosalina, Daisy, Peach and a female Mii competing in Synchronize Swimming.

As we mentioned last week, Splatoon allows for a second player in Battle Dojo to use a motion control setup. This can be done by “attaching” a Wii Remote Plus to the Wii U Pro Controller or Classic Controller/Pro. You can get a look at this in the video below.
