Switch

Pokemon CEO and president Tsunekazu Ishihara has explained why the new Let’s Go games are based on the Game Boy classic Pokemon Yellow.

In an interview with Famitsu in one of its recent issues, Ishihara mentioned that they wanted to expand the idea of walking around with a partner Pokemon, which was featured in Pokemon GO. Pikachu can also be seen with Ash in the anime, while Eevee has been popular since it can evolve in various ways.

The Teen Choice Awards have been going strong for nearly two decades. Fans are able to make their voices heard across a number of different entertainment categories, including TV shows, movies, and video games.

For this year’s show, a few Nintendo-related titles have been nominated under the “Choice Videogame” category. Two hit games in Zelda: Breath of the Wild and Super Mario Odyssey are included.

Switch was practically built with multiplayer in mind. The Joy-Con themselves can be detached from the main unit so that they can be shared with another person, allowing for gaming sessions with friends anywhere.

Nintendo has also put out quite a few multiplayer-focused Switch games over the past year or so. We’ve seen the likes of ARMS, Splatoon 2, and Mario Tennis Aces with Super Mario Party and Super Smash Bros. Ultimate to follow later in the year.

Sushi Striker

Nintendo published one more trailer for Sushi Striker as a way of highlighting some of the game’s accolades. You can watch it below.

Splatoon 2

A few weeks ago, modders and hackers managed to get a rudimentary version of an unreleased Splatoon 2 mode up and running. A second similar mode has been given the same treatment.

More:

Pokemon CEO and president Tsunekazu Ishihara wasn’t always a believer in Switch. In fact, he told Nintendo prior to its release that it wouldn’t be successful. He felt that “in the age of the smartphone, no one would carry out a game console.”

Switch did end up becoming a success in the end having sold close to 20 million units as of Nintendo’s last fiscal year. Ishihara came to understand that “the key to a successful game is quite simple: software with absolute quality leads sales of hardware.”

After a fairly long wait, Hollow Knight was dropped onto the Switch eShop next week. If you prefer having a game physically though, it sounds like a new option will soon be available to you.

Team Cherry said in a Reddit AMA that the company is working to make a physical version happen as we speak. The developer hopes to have some news “very soon”.
