Famitsu readers choose the top 100 best games of all time

Japanese magazine Famitsu put out its 1,500th issue this past week. In celebration of that, readers were asked to vote on the top 100 games of all time.
A number of Nintendo games made the list, including the a few in the top ten. These include Zelda: Breath of the Wild and Splatoon, which were selected fifth best and third best respectively.

Every game affected by the discontinuation of Miiverse

Miiverse was assumed to be ending after text found within the latest Wii U update mentioned the service’s end. This week, Nintendo confirmed the speculation. Miiverse is coming to a close on November 7 at 10 PM PT / November 8 at 1 AM ET.
The end of Miiverse will ultimately impact many games across Wii U and 3DS. If you’d like to know which ones will be affected, head past the break for the full list.

Dragon Quest X: The 5,000 Year Journey to the Distant Homeland Online character details

This week’s issue of Jump offers more information about the new Dragon Quest X expansion, The 5,000 Year Journey to the Distant Homeland Online. Three characters are introduced.
First up is Meleade, a woman you initially encounter in the past world. Jump describes her as a softhearted noble. You’ll also meet Quord, the commander of the Eterne Kingdom army and the younger brother of Meleade. Quord will fight anyone who tries to harm his sister. And finally, Jump shows Chacol, Meleade’s mischievous pet cat, with her collar and ribbon matching that of Meleade’s.

SplatNet service ends for Splatoon on September 30, but online multiplayer will still be available

Nintendo is pulling the plug on the original SplatNet service for Splatoon. It will be permanently closed on September 30. “We sincerely thank all players for using this companion site for the original Splatoon game,” Nintendo said today.
Thankfully, online multiplayer will continue for Splatoon on Wii U. For those who haven’t transitioned to Splatoon 2, that’s good news.
