Super Monkey Ball: Banana Mania went all out with guest characters. SEGA itself included some stars from its various franchises like Sonic the Hedgehog and Kazuma Kiryu from Kazuya, but the team also stepped outside of the box with some unexpected additions. The game includes Morgana from Persona 5, Suezo from Monster Rancher, and Hello Kitty as DLC.

In an interview with Retro Gamer, Super Monkey Ball: Banana Mania director and producer Masao Shirosaki spoke more about those guest characters and their inclusion. He told the magazine:

After it previously debuted in Japan, Yu-Gi-Oh! Rush Duel: Dawn of the Battle Royale!! landed on Switch in the west this week, and we now have gameplay. 39 minutes of footage has come in.

In partnership with Saber Interactive, 34BigThings today unveiled a sequel to its racer Redout, aptly named Redout 2. The game will arrive on Switch sometime in 2022.

Redout 2 is another arcade-esque experience “where racing through the dystopian wastelands of a semi-abandoned Earth is one of the galaxy’s most popular sports.” It’ll feature both a single-player campaign as well as competitive multiplayer. That’s on top of “deep control systems, robust hovership customization, and a killer soundtrack”.

Today, publisher Dear Villagers and developer Midgar Studio announced that the JRPG Edge of Eternity – Cloud Version is heading to Switch. Look for it on February 23, 2022.

Publisher Saber Interactive and developer Zen Studios today unveiled Circus Electrique, a game that features a mix of story-driven RPG, tactics, and circus management gameplay presented with a steampunk twist. It’s currently planned for 2022.

Rising Hell is seeing a physical release on Switch, Strictly Limited Games has announced in partnership with Chorus Worldwide Games and Toge Productions.

Fans will be able to choose between a limited edition or a Special Limited Edition. 2,200 copies and 1,800 copies of each will be made respectively. With the Special Limited Edition, buyers will receive a unique box, game manual, original graphic novel, original metal soundtrack on CD, art booklet, infernal poster (DIN A3), four character cards, and official logo sticker.

Taito has announced a major free update for Groove Coaster: Wai Wai Party!!!!, its rhythm game for Switch. It will include a couple of new characters and tracks as well, some new online features, and more.

According to a new report from Nikkei, Nintendo is planning two major office expansions to allow for more in-house development as opposed to outsourcing.

Beginning in May 2022, Nintendo will rent the sixth and seventh floors of the Kyoto City Waterworks Bureau’s new government building. This is located right next to Nintendo’s current headquarters. The space will be used to house more development resources, Nikkei reports.
