Nintendo will not be releasing any new hardware this year. That’s according to Nintendo president Shuntaro Furukawa, who shared the news during a financial results briefing just moments ago.

Switch Lite released last September. But rumors have persisted that another Switch model could be on the way, which would potentially provide some sort of boost in power. Furukawa’s comments suggest that we won’t be seeing that until 2021 at the earliest – if at all.

On the same day, the Animal Crossing: New Horizons Aloha Edition Carrying Case & Screen Protector and Switch Lite Animal Crossing: New Horizons Aloha Edition Carrying Case & Screen Protector will be available.

Here’s the full announcement from Nintendo:

However, Jorgensen pointed out that third-parties need to stack up against Nintendo’s own games, which have been the top-sellers “by a long shot”.

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate just wrapped its first Fighters Pass. Undoubtedly, one of the highlights was the inclusion of Banjo-Kazooie. Nintendo ended up working with Microsoft and Rare, which wasn’t always the likeliest collaboration.
