Update: It seems like we might have been wrong in our assumption that the gold-colored Metal Mario was just a costume. Nintendo just sent out a press release for Mario Kart 8, and while it doesn’t really contain a whole lot of new information, it does have this interesting line: “For those seeking a challenge, Gold Mario awaits the finest players who can complete all cups in 200cc.” Although the wording is still slightly unclear, this does seem to confirm that this Gold Mario is indeed a separate character, since the press release also mentions that there are a total of 42 characters in the game, and for the numbers to match up, Gold Mario has to be a separate character (assuming there are no other hidden characters that haven’t been revealed yet).

Other than all the advertised new features, tracks, characters and so on, it seems like Mario Kart 8 Deluxe will also add some new costumes. In Mario Kart 8 on Wii U, only a handful of characters had different cosmetic options, like Shy Guy and Yoshi. Now, judging by the overview trailer that was released today, at least three new characters will get to change their looks as well – Metal Mario and both Inklings.

It seems like the Inklings will have at least two additional outfit options – in addition to the standard orange-haired Inkling Girl, you can also see a pink-haired one above and a green-haired one in the image below. True to their fashion-savvy natures, these Inkling variants also wear different outfits.

Metal Mario also gets a new costume, as you can see with this gold-colored variant below:

Since the Switch has only been out for a week, the software lineup isn’t that expansive yet, and most people likely don’t own more than a handful of games for it at the moment. However, Reddit user Dacvak has found out that if you own more than 12 games, instead of scrolling further to the right, the Switch UI instead adds an “All Software” button that lets you view all of your games in a grid like this:

Update: An English version of the trailer is now available:

Nintendo has released a new trailer for Mario Kart 8, which goes pretty in-depth over the game’s new features. Though it is only available in Japanese, you can still see the new characters and the different battle modes, including a new mode with Piranha Plants. It seems to be that members of the red team are all equipped with Piranha Plants and must get them to chomp the members of the blue team. Check it out below:

Mario Sports Superstars is out this week, and to celebrate, Nintendo have released a special launch trailer for the game. Give it a watch:

Another Grand Hero Battle has begun in Fire Emblem Heroes, this time against Ursula. The event will run until March 14. To get Ursula to join your team, you must defeat the enemy army and have all of your units survive. Beating the Hard version will earn you a three-star Ursula, while the Lunatic mode will unlock a four-star one.

There is also a new Summoning Focus to coincide with the Grand Hero Battle. Titled “Battling Ursula”, it features Nino, Effie, Felicia, and Setsuna as its Focuses. It will likewise run until the 14th.

You can check out some screenshots of the event below:
