Earlier today, we heard that Switch ads were starting to appear in Australian stores. Over in the United States, it looks like GameStop is gearing up for the console as well.
One GameStop location is showing Switch posters both inside and by the store’s entrance. One ad can be seen right by the Wii U section.
We’ll likely continue to see that more GameStops will be adding Switch promotions over the next few days.
This week’s episode of Nintendo Minute has gone live. In today’s video, Kit and Krysta share their favorite 2016 Nintendo memories. Check out the full episode below.
2017 is almost here. To celebrate, Pokemon GO has been updated with a new loading screen, pictured below.
It’s also worth noting that the previously-announced promotions that were set to begin today are now live. The first partner Pokemon and their Evolutions from the Kanto regions are now more likely to be encountered, and Lure Modules will also last for 60 minutes instead of 30 minutes. Bronze, Silver, and Gold Boxes are also available that contain Incense, Lure Modules, Lucky Eggs, Poké Balls, and Great Balls.
Shovel Knight has been popping up in more and more games as of late. The character even made a cameo appearance in Azure Striker Gunvolt 2 earlier this year. In 2017, Shovel Knight will be showing up in Yooka-Laylee as well.
David D’Angelo of Yacht Club Games was asked about Shovel Knight’s cameos in a recent feature on Nintendo Life. He had this to say about the character being featured in other studios’ games.
“Typically with our cameos the developers have reached out to us as they were excited about the possibilities of having Shovel Knight in their worlds. It’s really thrilling for us to see Shovel Knight in new environments, so we’re happy to be a part of the fun. Honestly, we usually don’t have to do much from our end as all the developers we’ve worked with have been top notch and very respectful of the IP. Yooka-Laylee was an especially fun one though as we created the 3D model in-house. It was enjoyable to leave the second dimension for a bit! Gunvolt was incredible – it was amazing to work with Masaya Suzuki to design the Shovel Knight sprite. What a legend!”
Nintendo is back with another piece of concept art from The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. Today’s image focuses on the game’s Guardians, a type of enemy in the game. See the concept art above.
Update: Okami Amaterasu life size bust is also in the works:
First 4 Figures has been on a roll with its teases for new Nintendo figures. Meta Ridley was confirmed last week, followed by Bowser just recently.
If that wasn’t enough, two more products are on the way, and both are Zelda-based. A life-size Majora’s Mask and Midna (in her true form) are on the way at some point. When we have more details, we’ll be sure to bring them to you.
In July, Cragworks brought BLOC to the Wii U eShop. The indie developer is now preparing its next release for 2017 which goes by the name Reversi 32.
Cragworks put up a new Miiverse post about its upcoming project a few hours ago. It contains a brief look at a single-player mode in which you play against Bigley in the board game, Reversi. Players have black tiles while Bigley uses white tiles.
Here’s the full Miiverse post:
Ratalaika Games is wrapping up updates for two of its previous eShop releases. Defend your Crypt and Blasting Agent: Ultimate Edition will be getting patches in early 2017.
Defend your Crypt’s update sounds fairly substantial. New maps will be added, and tweaks will be implemented. The update should be submitted to lot check very soon.
As for Blasting Agent, we know that Russian will be included as a supported language. It’ll be submitted in early January, and Ratalaika is also working on a Japanese version of the game.
We recently heard that Spheroids will be out on the North American Wii U eShop next week. Now the same can be said for Europe. In both North America and Europe, Spheroids is slated for January 5.
