A new multiplayer mode has now been added to Splatoon. As part of Ranked Battle, players can now participate in “Tower Control”.
Nintendo describes Tower Control as follows:
The objective of Tower Control is to ride a single floating tower into the enemy’s base. Both teams rush toward the tower, which is initially placed in the center of the map, and the tower will start moving automatically once a player climbs aboard. But beware: Riding the tower will increase the chances of being splatted, as every player has his or her target on the tower. Riding the tower alone is pretty tough, encouraging randomly selected teams of players to team up to accomplish their goal. Just like in Ranked Battle and Turf War, players will be rewarded for working together as a team. Surrounding the tower and protecting the player riding the tower, using each stage’s features to gain an advantage and supporting each other are the keys to victory.
Tower Control joins Splat Zones as one of the modes available in Ranked Battle. At some point in the future, “Rainmaker” will also be added as a Ranked Battle option.
A listing on the eShop reveals that 3D Streets of Rage 2 is coming to North America on July 16. SEGA will be making it available for $5.99, much like other 3D Classics. You can view some screenshots from 3D Streets of Rage 2 in the gallery below.
SEGA has another couple of 3D Classics launching this summer. 3D Gunstar Heroes is due out in August, followed by 3D Sonic the Hedgehog 2 in September.

The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time is launching on the North American Wii U eShop tomorrow, a listing on Nintendo’s website confirms. It will be available as a Virtual Console download for $9.99.

Zelda: Ocarina of Time was confirmed as one of Europe’s Virtual Console releases for this week on Monday. Europe is getting Fire Emblem: Shadow Dragon and Advance Wars 2: Black Hole Rising tomorrow as well.
Helix Games has announced that its new game “Neon Battle” is coming to the North American eShop next week. Wii U owners will be able to purchase the title starting on July 9.

As is the case in Europe, Nintendo will be offering two versions of Yoshi’s Woolly World in North America. Consumers can purchase the standalone title or a bundle that comes with a Yarn Yoshi amiibo. Amazon has now posted the boxart for the bundle, which we’ve added in above.
Nintendo came out with Splatoon’s 1.3.0 update last night. It makes changes to the Ink Resistance, Stealth Jump, and Ninja Squid. Take a look for the video below to see how these modifications stack up to the previous version of the game.
Nintendo recently made it known that Fire Emblem Fates allows for same-sex relationships. We now have specific details about who these characters are, along with some footage. We’ll post all of the content after the break to avoid potential spoilers.
Even though E3 2015 was a couple of weeks ago, outlets have continued to post interviews that were conducted at the show. IGN has now put up its full interview with The Legend of Zelda: Tri Force Heroes director Hiromasa Shikata. Shikata talked about showing the project to Shigeru Miyamoto, the tons of different outfits in the game, and the online and Coliseum modes.

Nintendo of America doesn’t bring out many games during the summer. Did you know that Wii Sports Club is the only retail title since 2007 to have launched during the month of July?
Charlie Scibetta, Nintendo’s senior director of corporate communications, explained the company’s approach in an interview with Nintendo World Report. Scibetta mentioned that Nintendo’s big business tends to take place during the last few months of the year, and he pointed to school graduations as another key time for game launches.
He said:
“We do the bulk of our business in the holiday season, probably about 60% in October, November, and December. You want to launch games when people are in the mood to buy.”
