Rhythm Heaven: The Best Plus was the best-selling game in Japan during the week of June 8. It moved 158,000 copies, and Media Create reveals that it sold through 81.56 percent of its initial shipment.

The Japanese sales tracker offers up a couple of reasons for Rhythm Heaven 3DS’s success. Commercials probably helped things, and because it’s a compilation of the series’ previous installments, dedicated fans held it in high demand.

3DS hardware as a whole – including the new Pearl White color – sold 26,000 units. This was an increase of 44.05 percent. While many individual hardware have been on the decline since last week, 3DS has driven the hardware market to an increase compared to last week, just like the sales of software increased from last week.

Update (6/20): Brian here, and I’m bumping this to the top to give an update on things. This rumor is looking likely, as an Xbox One version of “Zombi” has been rated in Australia.

ZombiU was an exclusive to the Wii U at launch, but was never able to really gain any traction on the console and never generated a profit for publisher Ubisoft. Originally there had even been talk of a sequel but due to lackluster performance in sales that idea had to be scrapped. Now according to Unseen64, Ubisoft might be looking for another alternative for the title. It would appear as if Unseen64 has heard from a very reliable source that Ubisoft might be looking to port the game over to Playstation 4 and Xbox One, which could mean pretty significant changes to the gameplay not to mention the title needing to happen if that were done. At the moment this is still a rumor but considering Unseen64’s track record, you just might see this happening in the future.

Sonic Boom: Fire & Ice is officially launching in all major territories. At an anniversary event for the franchise, SEGA announced that the game will be releasing in Japan this winter.

For the most part, the name will be mostly the same. It’ll be called “Sonic Toon: Fire & Ice” in Japan.

Armikrog’s official launch is slated for August. In the case of Wii U, however, it shouldn’t be expected anytime soon.

Pencil Test Studios has said that Armikrog will be arriving on Wii U “substantially later” than the game’s other versions. That’s because the team wants to use the console’s different capabilities, including the GamePad. Pencil Test also didn’t want to send out an identical port.

Since Super Mario Maker’s reveal at last year’s E3, fans have been wondering if the creation title would retain the physics of the different Mario games. We now appear to have the answer to that question.

Based on reports from those who played Super Mario Maker at E3 – including Giant Bomb’s Jeff Gerstmann – it does in fact look like it keeps the physics of the different styles. Super Mario Bros., Super Mario Bros. 3, Super Mario World, and New Super Mario Bros. should play as you would expect.
